Dragon Slayer And Demon Slayer Questions...

Dragon slayer
1. You don't need any defence levels to wear chaps or vambs.
You get some defence levels from finishing the quest, in case you didn't know.
2. You can, but in f2p, you're only way is crossbow and anti-fire shield. Which is a little hard I think. For p2p'ers, you can use either throwing knives or darts, anti-fire potion and anti-fire shield.
Demon slayer
1. Why would you attack it defensive? If you don't want defence xp, don't use defensive mode while fighting him?

I rate a signature from how it looks, not by the name on it.

1. You don't need 40 defense to wear dragonhide chaps or vambs, just 40 range.
2. It's possible, but very difficult in F2P. You'd have to use a crossbow, which hits pathetically low. Anti-dragonfire shield is pretty much required, since almost nobody can put up a good fight when they get hit for 50+ damage every few seconds. In P2P, you could use an anti-fire potion with a bow.
3. You would, but the demon has less than 10 hp. It's just basically 1 hit and then you do the chant. You won't get very much combat xp fighting it at all.

Ok, thank you all who answered my questions.
@zaico(?) the reason why is i just started over and i'm now a ranger with only defence as well.
Oops! forgot to put this one in too....
Is elvarg's fire a magic attack?
In response to my rank, ducks are very smart. If you fire arrows at them you lose your arrows in the water, which means you lose your money.

I don't think so either. Even though the dragonfire looks like a magic attack, I haven't heard anything about it actually being magic. You can try the prayer to see if it helps, but melee protect would probably help more if you attacked that way.
You can mage it from the corner, but you will still get hit with fire. It's another option, if you don't want to melee it.

Yes, protect from mage can serve as a Dragonfire Shield.
