well, this was an old thread i had in the RuneScape forums...it was Drex89(drex89 is ME..its my friends retired members acount that i used for forums)
"Do you support the use and ownership of guns by civilians?"
if you wana say something like

Blurgh.... Is this the fixed version? Why did you want to reserve a post for that? If you cleaned up all the irrelevant stuff you could fit all the content on 1 line...
Anyway. Before we start the debate a few pointers for next time.
1. You dont have to relate it to Runescape. Whoever that guy you're trying to credit is I can assure you he isn't the first person to think guns may be a bad thing so he doesn't really deserve any credit unless he/she/it said something original and relevant.
2. Try to be a bit more specific abot your debate topic. Guns are not a clear cut issue.
Saying "Do you support Guns?" is very vague and broad.
"Do you support the use and ownership of guns by civilians?"
"Do you support the use and ownership of guns by police?"
"Do you support the use and ownership of guns for military purposes?"
"Do you think a well armed populace is a detterent to tyranny and political oppression?"
A bit more info narrows down the topic and makes it easier for people to understand whats being asked of them.
3.You don't need to quote what people are going to say in this into your 1st post either but you can if you like.

Civilian Use
Basically I think the right to defend yourself and your family is an important one.
I think people should be allowed to own a gun only if they:
- have taken and passed a course in gun handling/usage/ownership/storage once every 5 years.
- have NO criminal record.
- are mentally accountable, no senile old people/metally ill people.
Storage of guns should be a big issue.
Locked in a cabinet.
At least 6 feet off the ground.
No dresser drawers or shoeboxes in the closet.
I think that handguns should be restricted to 9mms. Anything above is unnecessarily dangerous. Guns should be used to defend and incapacitate not blow a hole in someone.
Carrying a gun with you should be illegal. Police should be given the right to do spot checks on anyone they believe is carying arms and if found carrying arms a hefty fine & jail time should be mandatory. There are plenty of non lethal detterents to use that aren't guns.
The more guns that are on the street at any one time the more danger everyone on the streets is in.
Military Use
Ideally we would be fighthing with Gas/Rubber Bullets etc. but if you're fighting Iraqi insurgents with Ak's you really have very little option but to retaliate in kind.
Police
Police need guns as a detterent more than a weapon and I think they've got it about right as theings are now.

I could try and describe situations where i may view guns as acceptable and others where they are not... but if i did that we would be here for hours.
So the simple answer is:
Guns are here to stay, its hard to control them but *meh*... if no one had them (ie: pretend they hadnt been invented) then humans would only find another way to kill eachother... like crossbows or shuriken

The only problem with guns is the way certain people use them. meaning that some use it in the way the store owner would intend it to be used-in defence. The others use it in malicious ways. I think that people should have guns in the case of self-defence. If there were no guns, those using them for the wrong reasons would choose from a list of possible other items that could cause harm or even the death of another person/animal.
I don't think that guns would solve much except eliminate the key weapon used in murder. it wold just be replaced with something else. Then someone would try to get rid of that, and so on till a murderer is left with just their hands. Now how is someone gonna get rid of those "weapons". if they tried, it would be like going back into the past when a person would get their hands cut off for stealing. *cringes*

No, with guns it's impossibe to have honorable combat. I believe in melee weapons.

Honorable combat is good but we are no longer living in medeval or post-feudal times. Swords are obsolete even if they took away guns, we still have bombs, traps, bows and arrows. So would u rather chase someone down or shoot them in the head with a trusty .45 and end the fight then and there?
And just so u know bombs arnt always made with gun powder, u can make a bomb out of whats under ur kitchen sink. ^_~

Guns should be illegal.
It won't solve much by owning a gun. They are weapons used to inflict damage on another person - Modern day society would be better off without them. I pity people that believe every second person should walk around with a gun, I pity every person that believes every single person needs a gun in their cabinet and their cupboard and their wardrobe.
People say guns are used for self-defence, what's self-defence when the other twenty five million people around you have a gun too? It's not self defence when everyone has a weapon used to kill.
And just because one person doesn't have a criminal record doesn't mean he's got the right to walk around with a weapon used to kill people. That's common sense.
Guns create problems, not solve them.
Guns don't do that - People do.
A nation of ignorant people with guns is more dangerous then a nation with no guns at all.

If you clearly read me say "Banning guns is the answer" then why repeat it as a question to me? I just said banning guns would be correct - You clearly undersood that, so reading it over a second time isn't going to make me change my mind. Why feed me my own opinions?
You don't kindly ask for a gun from a drug dealer, that is common sense. But should the law be imposed that guns were illegal, no civilian would ask for the guns - Police or specific trained people assigned to take the guns off of the drug dealers would. I'm 14. You expect me to ask a drug dealer for his gun?
People do kill people. Do you know how much easier it is to kill someone when there is a gun in every second room of your house, a gun in every second room of your neighbour's house and a gun in every second room of every single house in your neighbourhood? Allowing guns is not solving problems, it is harnessing more problems.
