I know Jagex is trying to help out the game, but I think they are being a little too helpful.
Ok, I'm talking about today's update.
The new crossbows, have been seriosly updated.

If you didn't know, Rune Crossbows now have a +90 Range bonus . They are as fast as crystal bows.
But what about Karils? Now, since because of the new update, Rune C'bows leave Karils in the dirt.
Karils have a +84 Range bonus.

One of the great range weapons in the game, is no longer that strong.

This is dumb. If Jagex wanted to update the crossbows, why not update the Karils? They even said:

First up, we've rebalanced the crossbows to make them a really appealing option for rangers. This means that your crossbow will fire faster and hit harder.[/quote]

Lets see the differences between the two weapons now..

Karils:

Two Handed
Expensive Bow
Expensive Ammo
Not as strong anymore (+84 Ranged bonus)
Faster than Rune C'bows

Rune:

One Handed
Makeable Bow
Makeable Ammo
Cheaper bow and ammo (if you wanted to buy it)
Stronger than the original xbow (+90 Ranged bonus)

Questions:

How can an ancient weapon be weaker than something you can make with your own two hands?
Why did Jagex ignore Karils on this crossbow update?

That's lame. Now people are going to start using rune c'bows over karils x-bows. The only thing though, x-bows are MUCH MUCH MUCH faster. Crossbows are pretty slow, even though they are faster now.

I don't know, this is pretty lame. They should have updated karils x-bow also.

yeah, they need to update the karil's xbows, that way barrows is worth sumthing again

They better fix Xbow or i'm gonna smack the ---- out of someone. I like X-bow, it's my favorite bow in all of game and it deserves the same if not better range bonus than something that requires only 61 range. So to you Jagex - fix bonus or die, kthxbai.

Agreed. Maybe they forgot about Barrows, maybe they're underground and long forgotten. If the X-Bow is covered with dust, I'll brush off my Crystal Bow then.

=0 Never noticed that Weekend Well yeh thats a pretty dumb decision made by Jagex, you should post this in the official forums.
Like Overdoziz said "Barrows > Rune" and it should stay that way.

i cannot use either but im p.o.ed. i loved getting owned by karils then owning rune cbows in duel arena. i suppose next drag will beat out whip and barrows....

I'm more annoyed with the fact that they've made the crystal bow redundant.

I can hit higher with a rune crossbow than I can with a crystal bow.

Factor in that I have to pay 180k for the crystal bow to be recharged and that it degrades, thereby getting weaker and it's not completely pointless.

Wow. I didn't realise that the crossbows had been given that much of a boost. The fact that the x-bow didn't receive an upgrade is appauling, especially because of how expensive the x-bow is. Do you think that this could affect the price of the x-bow?

EDIT - Thinking about it, though, I was at black dragons today and some guy turned up with a rune crossbow. He started fighting a drag and was hitting 20's with his crossbow. I assumed that he was a high ranged level and asked him what level he was, he replied '73'. I thought that '20' was quite high at lvl 73 range, so I asked him what bolts he was using. He was using mith.

Hitting 20's with mithril bolts using a crossbow worth 30-40k? I know what I'll be using to range drags from now on

LAME LAME LAME LAME Jagex has gotten so stupid over the years...
Like Kakrida said he was gonna use range from now on at the dragons..
i was recently down there with my pure and I had a rune cross bow with rune bolts
Keep in mind i have 87 range i was hitting 29 and 30's. then i banked got my karils bow
and went back down there only hitting 25 and 27's . That is lame i used to feel good about my Karils
now it just got thrown in the gutter by jagex

Some moves Jagex does are quite stupid really. This is one of them.
Not to forget you only need 61 range to use a Rune x-bow, whereas Karil's you need 70 range.
The should either remove the update or increase Karil's x-bow stats.
And thats the bottom line.
