Quote

Three British soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan by so-called friendly fire from American fighter planes, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said.
The MoD said the soldiers, from 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, were killed at around 1830 local time (1500 BST) on Thursday.

It is understood they died when the planes dropped a bomb near their patrol in Helmand province.

Two other soldiers were also injured. Next of kin have been informed.

The fighter planes had been called in to give air support to ground troops, the Ministry of Defence said.

Air support... ha!

I have noticed that its usually the British being cut down by "sir support" and not the Americans. bluemellow.gif

Things like this should give them a heads up warning to the trainers. How many more friendly fire kills dose it take to change there protocols?

The U.S are not being killed by Friendly Fire because no other nation is stupid enough to destroy and kill their own side. The U.S are too trigger happy and take action before they think and that is the thing that needs to change.

High tech targeting computers are meant to correct that fault.

Well First off its hard to drop a bomb from 15000+ feet in the air. This Happens every once in a while its almost impossible to stop.
Between everyone over there and all of the radio channels probably filled its hard not to get a mistake.

Every once in a while? This happens almost every 2 months. Theres nothing that can explain that. Its either they are lazy or there technology is worse then what they had in WW2.

Better aim please? With all the high tech gizmo's they have no I hardly doubt its really that hard. Laser guided missile could most likely plop down on a dollar coin / bill.

Completely agree with Morril, it is their fault, they should be held accountable and charges should be brought against them.

Savage, the bombs were not dropped from thousands of feet in the air. This is all down to the American Army not being trained as well as some other armies, notably the UK's. That is the main reason why the U.S always commit these murders.

If only Bush were smart enough to just admit that he's only there for some god damn oil and then just leave it, he'd just confirm what everyone else is already thinking. GTFO Bush.

If it were Americans who got killed I wouldn't really mind this, it's what America gets for being stupid. But the fact that they were British soldiers makes it worse for me sad.gif I really feel sorry for the families.

Maarten I have to say you are a despicable creature. Whether or not you agree with the war, you have no right to callously assume that if American soldiers die it is what they "deserve". Support the soldiers whether or not you support the war. They are doing their job. And another thing. Even though lots of people hate the US and what we've done on the international scene you will notice we (the US) end up making the world safe and cleaning up the messes of other countries.

Even though there are people making negative comments about the US you will notice most of them live here and enjoy the security provided by the best military in the world.

Maarten you should seriously be ashamed to post what you did.

I feel bad for the families of all soldiers killed, US or UK.

The U.S do not clean things up, they screw things up. Examples include Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc... The U.S make the world a dangerous place to be in.

The best army in the world isn't the U.S's. Just because you have a ridiculous spending budget and a huge population to suck troops from, it doesn't make you the best. Training does. The UK's army is much more disciplined and better at what they do, because the UK take time in their training and do not just send any teenagers off to war without them being prepared.

Saying stuff like that is nice and all but how can you prove one army is better that another?

Also, terrorism is a problem. How are the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan screwups?
