Seeing as I'm getting 99 hitpoints later, I was thinking; are 99 stats really worth it? Is it worth the time and effort put into it or is it just there? Is it something that you are really happy about or is it just another stat on the runescape high scores?
To me, 99 stats are worth it only if you get a sense of achievement out of it. If you auto it, there is no sense of achievement and it is completely pointless. However, if you put in many hours of hard work and finally achieve your desired 99, you should feel accomplished for doing so.
I said maybe yes On the one hand, getting 99 in a skill should make you have lots and lots of giggles and training spots and e-cool, on the other hand, tons of 99's are just getting grinded these days, which to me isn't really the point :\
I find hanging out with mates more rewarding than my 2 99's. However, there is a bizarre lust which brews within me when I think of having another 99.
It's ridiculous. I mean look at spiah - clicking around a Phoronidaing course - for what? She could be doing so many other great things. Like baking cookies. Or going for a walk. Or just being friendlier towards me... I mean... seriously. Just a hug, every now and then... wouldn't hurt would it? Please?
Please?
Please Spiah?
I made this extra long just so you have to edit it.
At least youll notice me. Or this. Or us. Spiah.
We could BE.
Us.
Please?

Voted for definitely not. I mean, sure, it looks great ingame, but when you turn off the computer, you wouldn't go bragging about it to your friends or anyone else for that matter.
You'll eventually tire of the game and look back at the tens - maybe hundreds - of hours wasted on attaining what is essentially no more than a number.
Think of what else you could have done.
Then again, woodcutting with Josh was pretty badass.

Silly row, I bake cookies sometimes. I enjoy agility, and you know, if I were level 70 right now, I wouldn't continue, but being just about half way to 99, I've gotten this far and I would be an idiot to stop it all now.
I think it's worth it if you find a skill you enjoy doing, but if you're doing it just for the cape, then don't do it.
I used to love going for 99's. I used to always try and see if I could break my records for xp earned in a day for the skill i was training. And my xp gain was pretty insane at one point.
But eventually it feels more like a job like you come get a certain amount of xp and stop till the next day and then try to go for that same xp the next day. (This applies to most people and not all some set xp goals for a day some go for it casually)
And when i did get them I didn't care about them that much and I never wear the capes and I always felt like ok which 99 is next, not even stopping to care about the 99 just obtained.
There's certainly alot of stress going for them and it does get annoying to train them and constantly have people coming up to you asking what your level is you answer and they say you have no life or whatever brilliant comment they come up with. (not always bad comments)
Personally I find them annoying to go for I'd rather just play the game to have fun fighting bosses getting drops getting together with friends and do some mini games, castlewars soing random odd things, castlewars, complete some quests and did i mention castlewars yet? of course to some people going for 99's is fun and that's ok.

Well after almost 7 years I achieved 99 Strength and 99 Attack and I'm freakin proud of myself. But now getting 99's are boring so I'm not sure if I'll get another one soon or not.

It all depends, for looks yes, 99s are worth it, but most skills stop at level 80, 90, max 95, only 2-3 skills are all the way to 99, so all 99 is for... 90% of our skills is the cape.

I don't think getting a 99 is worth it. I guess I went for Fishing 99 because of the sense of achievement, but after getting it I didn't really care anymore. I can't get the cape and I don't walk around spamming my levels.
I'm just glad I got it while doing other stuff like msn, so I didn't entirely waste all those hours.

Speaking as someone with 99 strength...yes for me it was worth it. I think that it is one of those things that can only be decided on a personal level, to some people having 85 or 90 gives them the same feeling of accomplishment as a 99 would to someone else.
