Graphics Dictionary


Adobe Photoshop 6/7/CS 8/CS2 9: Photoshop is one of the most used programs for making signatures/avaters and diffrent graphical artwork.

Adobe Imageready: Imageready is a program you get with Photoshop, this program is used to add animations to a signature/avatar or different graphical art made in Photoshop.

Avatar: Avatar is a small picture you use under you're nickname on this forum, just to show some random comic, graphics, a picture of you, and so on.

Undersig: Undersig is short for undersignature, which is just what it sounds like, it's a signature that is actually under you're real signature, but much smaller. These are normally used to display skills in a game, skills in real life, advertisement, etc.

C4D: C4D is a short word for a 3D program called Cinema 4D, which is used to make 3D shapes, these 3D shapes which is used in signatures/avatars is mostly a lot like abstract. Many people have
started to use these shapes in signatures/avatars, but mixed with other styles/effects.

Brush: A brush is a word mostly combined with the graphic design program Photoshop, these brushes are used to make a signature look somewhat better. It is many kinds of brushes for such programs, including Vector, Abstract and Grunge.

Render: Render is a part of a picture that is cut out, renders makes signature/graphic making much easier.

Transparent: This word is often used in connection with renders. Transparent is something you can't see. Invisible. Renders are easier to use if the background is transparent.

Crop: To crop means to make a picture smaller, for example by taking out the non-important part, to make the picture smaller.

Randomizer: A randomizer is a program/site that makes you're signatures(if you have many) show up in random order whenever a user refreshes the page.

Shop: A shop is just what it sounds like, it's a shop where you ask the shop-owner(s) to make you a signature of you're liking, and they make it. (Note:Runecrypt does not tolerate payments in the shops on their forums.)

Font: A font is a styled up text, you can get these in many thousands of different samples.

Signature: A signature is a not-too-big picture, where you can use either "Brushes," "Renders," or basic effects you get with the program you are using. You can also use them all at the same time, to get a good outcome. Signatures is normally used underneath your post.


Some styles of Signatures/Avatars


Grunge: Grunge is one of the most used style in a signature/avatar, and it looks mostly very rusty.

Softgrunge: Softgrunge is a softer version of grunge that is not so rough.

Pixel: A "pixel" can be used in many ways, if we talk about a pixel, it's just one little dot. If we are talking about pixel art-work, it is art made from only pixels, or made "pixel by pixel" like people seem to say it.

Vector: A vector is a kind of signature/avatar, where only round, squared, triangled or something like it is used. This kind of signature/avatar is not much crowded.

Abstract: Abstract is one of the most used style in a signature/avatar, it is much sharper than most styles, and makes a signature/avatar flow very well.

Pixel stretch: A pixel-stretch is just what it sounds like, it's a signature/avatar where a thin line is made, and the pixels underneath this line is stretched to make a background.

Smudge: Smudging is often used for signatures/avatars to smudge a color of a render/background out around the background.

Photomanipulation: Photomanipulation is also a style of making signatures, where you use a normal picture/photo, and manipulate it to make it look better. (This style is very good for making something lighter/softer.)

Grungestract: A grungestract is a style mixed by Grunge and Abstract which makes it Grungestract.

C4D: A C4D signature is a signature made with a render made in the program Cinema 4D.

Pop-out: The "pop-out"-style used to make a render/brush pop out of the actual signature/avatar.
