If you find a mistake in our guides, make a topic with the url (address) and the mistake itself.

Detailed Rules I (that way if you make a mistake we can say that we told you so!)
Spoiler - Detailed Submission Rules that you may want to check:
    Pictures
  • If at all possible, save as .png! What we do is we add the infamous watermark and in that process re-save them in a standard way using .gif in photoshop. Which means that the best quality is preserved if members submit them as .png. If the picture is really large, then .gif is fine.[list]
  • Do not submit pictures you found on other sites! This is plagiarism and will result a warning.
  • All Microsoft Paint pictures saved as .bmp will be .png when uploaded
  • All .gif pictures from PhotoShop will be .gif when uploaded (recommended)
  • All .png pictures from PhotoShop will be .png when uploaded (recommended)
  • No .jpg or .jpeg pictures (too low quality)
Tour Guides
  • Keep all tour guides in this format if possible:
CODE
A. Title

Picture

  • Make sure the idea isn't already here in Runecrypt.
Also remember that we will most likely close your topic after the submission/suggestion has been coded/added.
-Feel free to post your own submission even if the same topic has been posted recently.
-Most likely we'll choose the better of the two based on other users' responses, or even may post both of them up!

  • We will try not to delete any submission topics so that we have solid proof of your posting. If you decide to edit it to erase the content after it has been posted, that is at your own discretion as once the content is added, it is assumed that you intended on it going onto RuneCrypt. You may post a copyright of it if you decide to post it in other sites, but RuneCrypt has the rights to put your submission onto this one.
  • Read this, if you don't and submit material that is not up to best quality, we will post a link to this topic for you to read before we add the submission!**
  • If you plan to continuously edit your guide, somehow edit a "complete" or "finished" into your title so we know you're done!**

IAMAOM'S GUIDE TO GUIDE MAKING

I. Intro
II. Were to start
III. Layout, Personality, and Editing
VI. Publishing and Submitting
V. Conclusion

I. Introduction
Ya I know what your thinking, "Why would anyone need to know how to make a guide"? Well Rune Crypt Doesn't except just some slapped together, half-misspelled, sloppy page of text do you? Nope. With this guide, you'll learn how do write, edit, publish and submit guides with a better chance of them being submitted. So get ready for a politically correct guide of fun filled grammar!

II. Where to Start
Okay let’s get started. First off you must think about what you want your guide to be about. To make sure you
Don’t waste time, please check the reports section. When you’ve made your decision (if you haven’t already, most
of the time an idea just comes to me) then feel free to read on.

Great. Good. Excellent. Now that you have your guide idea, it’s time to put it into motion. Before you start
let me mention that having a text editor (Microsoft WordŽ is ideal) with a grammar check/spell check. If
none are available, then just using the posting box is okay.

III. Layout, Personality, and Editing
Alright, starting to feel excited, eh? Well before you start typing you need to decide what the layout will be.
The layout can decide weather your guide gets put on or not. The layout alone will decide if it’s a neat well
written article, or something the cat spat out (probably a canary of some sort). When making your layout
you should follow along these lines:

• The title, this can decide weather someone decides to even consider reading your guide or not.
• The introduction, this should be a highlight of what the guide is about.
• Optional index, though it looks more professional.
• The main body and the order of which you’ll put the guide in. Chronologically (if any) or most important should go first.
• Conclusion, no doubt last. This wraps everything up and gives the article a sense of closure. Doesn’t have to be long.

Now if your guide has pictures (which is almost a must for Rune Crypt guides) Try putting them at the bottom of the sentence or if it’s a more general picture, at the bottom of the paragraph. Don’t put pictures in mid sentence (with exceptions of icons). That makes your guide seem very choppy, and usually makes it hard to read. Remember to crop!

Now onto Personality. This is the heart and soul of your guide (possibly the spine and gallbladder). For the most part an energetic and cheerful mood should make a good atmosphere for the guide itself. Don’t be afraid to insert a joke every once and a while. Humor often guides a guide a sense of “friendliness”, which entices the reader to want to read on. Don’t try to make it look like a comedian’s script though. Too many jokes can give the guide a sense of childish feel. Mostly just try to make the guide have a light feel to it, and you’ll do fine.

Editing! Probably the most hated part of guide making. Well too bad for you. Without editing, guides would consist of misspellings, fragments, unpunctuated sentences, typos (which are sometimes hilarious), and much, much more. Basically, just read over your guide to check for any errors and fix them. Hence the recommended spell check listed earlier

IV. Publishing and Submitting
Mmmmm, your guide is starting to look pretty nice, huh? Well that’s good. If you’re using a text editing program, then copy and past your guide into the posting box (the screen you get when you make a new thread). If you’re using the posting box…then leave it as it is. Read over your guide one or two more times. Once you got everything shipshape, just click the post button!

Wait ‘till a content developer reads your guide. If it’s good enough it will be added to the site. If not then keep trying! Usually the content developers post why it won’t be added (they usually leave the topic open so you can edit, and fix your problems). Don’t glue yourself to the topic. Remember that content developers have lives too, and they can’t be constantly checking your guides. Just be patient (yes I am indeed a hypocrite).

V. Conclusion
In the end guide making is a fun, good source of calcium! Well, maybe not that, but it sure is fun! Remember that not every guide gets added, and you might have to edit your guide more than once or twice! Just don’t be discouraged and have fun!
