what will y be the function of x?

note, those arent negatives except the last one which i need to know the x, is -1

5 * 4 = 20

3*4 = 12

1*4 = 4

X *4 = -1

Well, there is no answer...

cause it would be .25 but you need it negative so if you need -1, it would be -.25 BUT

Neg*neg = pos, and you have 4 negs being multiplied.. so you CANT get -1..

-.25 * -.25 = .5 * -.25 = -.75 *-.25 = 1

4 * -1/4 = -1

Where is the neg*neg comming from? You are multiplying a negative (-.25) by a positive (+4), therfore resulting in a negative (-1). Put it into a calculator, -.25 * 4. It will come out as -1.

Timmaaaay, you are right. For a second there Grunge made sense, but then I lloked at you're solution and t was right.

so the answer is -.25

How are you ever going to survive algebra if you can't figure that out? The other functions were there for you to figure out what the missing number was, thus enabling you to solve the equation.

4x = -1

4x/4 = -1/4

x = -1/4

First find what the common function is; in the first part, x = 4; all you need to know for that is basic division. in a function you're trying to find a common constant that will give you Y.

Then, you can figure out the last one. You know that if y = -1 for the last point, you have to see what times 4 will equal Y

X x 4 = -1

Then use basic algebra to solve.
4X = -1
X/4 = -1/4
X = -1/4
