I have this devilish teacher that's going to have us study ten pages of 8 font writing about The Odyssey and Homer and I really need help. First, I have to known about dytalic hexameter. I known that it's three syllables but I have no idea how to explain it. Next, I need epithet description and the styles of Homeric similes. I also need to no wat happens in epics and why Homer decided to start in the middle of his story instead of the beginning. Please...i really need help.

I suggest you suck it up and just read it. You will use it more than once in your life.

The Odyssey is one of my favorite books...but I stopped reading the Iliad in the middle because I'll have to read it in a year or two anyways...

Lol, we just finished reading the Odyssey. I know that epics are like long narrative poems with like heores I believe and they start out with like a prayer I think, not too sure. I'm not sure why Homer started in the middle where Odysseus was with Calypso though, just read the book and try to find things to answer your questions, that basically all I can tell you.

The simplest answer would be to bring in fact suggesting that Homer wasn't real.
But yea... why does every school system in America study the Odyssey?

*reads it straight away after seeing Trees post*
Na, I've read it before, it is really a great book, but only got to about 1/4 of the Illiad

I suggest you suck it up and read it, it would only take you about 10-20 minutes? And then ask your parents or someone else, because its kind of hard to help you with this kind of thing over forums. I reckon its ALOT easier to get help with these things by talking, you know?
