I don't understand how to do this because I missed the lesson. How do you work these types of problems?
Find PD if the coordinate of P is -7 and the coordinate of D is =1

What do you mean by find "PD"
Find the slope? Find the length? or what? If it is length you can assume it is 8.
If you mean a point, then the point is either (-7,1) or (1,-7).
If you mean slope you haven't given enough information.

please clarify. i can get about a dozen different answers from this if i had to infer.
