No, they don't. If playing Warhawk made me violent I'd be out fragging people in real life. However, I don't get the need to call in an airstrike on my School just because they gave me homework. Games are too often blamed for society's failures on a whole. A scapegoat from the real problems.

I don't think its the video games that make u violent, but just the frustration of playing a really good game and not being able to win or succeed in it, where u know u can.
I know i get angry when my mum says i have to stop playing games other wise i'll have a siezure.

I remember hearing this story about this kid that killed his friend because he was playing manhunt, only they found out he didn't.
Most people blame their problems on video games, which is sad, because they can't be responsible for their actions.

IMO, violent video games will only play a small part in accenting violent behavior. It's not like you play halo, then your eyes start spinning, you get a rocket launcher and start killing people. It's more familiarizing yourself with violence, somehow makes it slightly more acceptable in your eyes.

lord no if that was true then i'd go around knocking the crap out of people form playing mortal kombat( which at one point was on the news asking if that game was the reason young people were getting violent or watever)

Kind of. I remember after playing Unreal Tournament 2004 a few years ago, I would occasionally in gym yell "frag them! FRAG THEM!" when we were losing in Dodgeball. Thankfully no one seemed to notice.
But really, no. :s

I think it can, but other things have to be in the mix as well, you have to be a certain type of person. A person who doesn't know right from wrong. A person who doesn't give a crap about anything.
Remember those 2 kids at Columbine Highschool in 1999? Their motive was unclear, however, they were known to play Doom a lot. They felt as if they were outcasts and they had made custom maps that resembled their school. I believe they even revealed what they were going to do.
While civilized people know that its just video games and most of them are not realistic at all. We could go for a long time playing video games and it will not affect you. I am not going to go playing halo then start chargin ma laz0r.
So all in all, yes and no.

Total bull. Games allow us to let out our violent urges in a safe environment. Its only the mentally ill people who take that safe environment and take it into real life for some god forsaken reason.

From my view, I think that only people that would become influenced by watching other violent things, such as movies, or -hateful- music, would be the types to be violent from playing videogames.
If they don't become more violent from videogames, it would be something else. For the rest of us, videogames are fun, nothing more influencing than that.

people who claim that their children are violent because of video games have failed as parents to teach their children the diffrence between reality and FPS (lol

)
bottom line, i think that (like any action) without proper knowledge everything can infulence you for good and bad. fact is, if parents CBA to teach their children that its a big no-no to go berzek with a link gun on your fellow men and women - then should't ---- about it.

People are looking for a reason for the violence in the world, and they blame games for it. While they are actually entertaining, and without games a lot of youngsters would be on the street taking drugs, drinking alcohol or whatever else they also think is bad. When they find out games are not actually the cause of the violence they will have to find something new..
No, I don't think games cause violence.

Yes, there is a chance for kids or even ppl to get violent cuz of videogames, but it just matters on how seriously you actually take a game.

theres two types of violence in games; for example, violence in halo doesn't teach anything wrong; you merely shoot to defend yourself and your comrades, something that wouldn't be wrong in a real life setting. Other games like GTA where its ok to pretty much kill anybody at will do promote violence i think.

i think that video games can cause violence depending on the age of the video game user. i have had very little experience in this so this is all speculation. from what i've came up with this theory that isn't new at all and could be easily found anywhere else. i believe that different age groups react differently to video games, the younger becoming more violent and the older being calmer because killing people in a game helps them feel better or staying the same. the reason i believe this is that the younger group have a different conception of things and might take the game to seriously, while the older group is able to recognize the difference between fiction and reality better.

and they are scary when the get older.
one reason i believe this is because of the difference that i have observed between an eight year old that plays halo and a thirteen or fourteen year old. the eight year old was much more aggressive than the thirteen year old and in some cases that can be good but in this case it was far from being good and i feel sorry for the eight year olds parents. this eight year old is also very short so that to could be a cause.

Hehe... where to start.
I have first hand experience with this when it comes to my younger cousin (who is btw, 8 years old). The kid's crazy. Since he was 5 he's been playing nothing but Halo, Unreal, Natural Selection, Serious Sam, Ect. I never really found a problem with cussing, blood spurting, and stuff in games. In fact, I find it to be amusing

. But teh weird part is, he's incredibly aggresive and scares any friends he makes away. IMO this is a perfect example from a first hand experience. Hell, the kid attempts to beat my pets up when they come to visit (yes, even poor, innocent, hamper dwelling cat). So, I do agree with the fact video games make younger kids violent, not so much kids who know how to behave and control themselves. Idk whats gonna go on when he's like 13 lol.

I agree.
I admit I get into Halo 3 and am dissapointed when I die, but I don't take it out on anyone. When my school gives out homework out don't look for a sniper trying to snipe of my teachers. When I turn off my 360, I sort of calm down pretty fast.

yep,i agree with that
example:A 4 year-old playing manhunt....
i think video games would make you more violent if a 4 year-old played a 18+ game or a 18+ movie
but they wont really if your 18 playing a 18+ game ( or basiclly its kinda ok if your 16+ playing a 18+ game or video...)
but then on the other hand sometimes you get the chavs thinking there cool stealing or something like that...
personally i just think there idiots....
so my comment is: "only if your playing like a 18+ game (or video) when your like a 6-)
P.S:i to get fustratid (or angry) if i cant complet a game or you cant advance in it or when my mum come in and says at like 2:00pm and says -"enough of the video games for today,go take out the garbage"- when i woke up like 5 minutes ago...
