Jagex Ltd. obviously isn't fond of it at all because it gives unfair advantages throughout the game. Lets forget about "Copyright" issues for a second and that it can't be completely stopped. There's to things we have to look at. Why people do it so much? and Would you do it too?

If by cheating you mean macroing, then its because people are both lazy and greedy.

For gain, material gain being the most proliferate example.

People cheat to get levels and items they would never acheive quickly, through playing honestly.

And like most people here, I wouldn't do it either.

People cheat because they sometimes think it's funny to ruin a game for other people. They do it because they are lazy and want to make money fast. In Runescape's case, people cheat to make a lot of money so they can sell it on Ebay for real life money.

I myself would never cheat. Although it is just a game, you should still abide by rules. Abiding by the rules can help you become a better person actually which some people fail to do and become.

Most cheaters don't give a damn about the game itself otherwise they wouldn't be cheating, they get items from leaving their computer running and sell for real cash, I doubt 1% of all autoers actually play RS properly on that/an other account.

BUT If everyone macroed, then nobody would have an unfair advantage anymore because everyone has that advantage. O.o

They macro to make things easier, and so they don't have to sit in front of the computer all their lives.

Simple answer is greed. I wouldnt do it because I am not greedy.

no i wouldn't do it for 2 resons

1. i quit rs
2. there is nothing to gain by selling curency for a video game. it is not that i honer the rules but what is the point in having achivments you didn't even gain.

It's like saying why do people drive instead of walking. To save time and effort, basically.

However, there are no working "cheats" within RuneScape. There are far to many security measures, the obvious ones such as random events and the not-so-obvious ones such as detecting repetitive movements or something (that's a guess, god knows what they do).

You can exploit the fact that people are willing to pay for runescape gold. They harvest it with dupe accounts until they are content with there cheating, then they go to a website where they find someone who is willing to buy it and sell it over pay pal over some other form of money transferring.

In short terms. For real money.

As lazy i might be i NEVER CHEAT to get RS money (instead i go nat runnin)
I also don't cheat for xp (but i do get a little/lot impatient at (many) times)
And i don't have an eBay account lol


Many peeps perfer to cheat because of the similar problems i face (ie. impatience)
Unlike I, who would either keep going or forget about it and NOT CHEAT, cheaters would...er...cheat!


Now one time i was just happily fishing after the day they realized where macroers came from, and people kept on calling me a "macroer", only cus of my username. Some simply cheat by using programs, other uses other people as "slaves" only to get more money from rs money.


Think about it...would you sell money for money? or buy an online picture of a lady? or sell a doc. file for $144.97?

Incorrect. Every cheater I know (And I know a lot of cheaters) play Runescape fairly on their cheating account/main/pure/etc.

People macro because they want to sell the materials gained for Runescape GP and then sell that Runescape GP
for real life money. I don't think people macro with mains though. Also according to Jagex, they aren't macros but people working in Asian Sweetshops (ya I know wtf).

I wouldn't cheat because I really don't know how and I don't want to get banned lol. If I could I probably wouldn't though. But Runescape is that fun if you dont have $ .

Hmm...I thought this was an online GAME not a GOLD FARM. That's why I wouldn't cheat there's no sense of self accomplishment there.

I'll admit I tried it once, I had an autoclicker which someone sent to me. I only tried it on the red spiders in varrock dungeons and figured the thing was silly to just delete it again, and I think that's all I ever tried. I didn't think it was worthwhile anyway, didn't want to get banned.

People cheat because they want to be better than others, which is a human instinct. And what do people do when they can't win? That's right, they cheat. Fairly easy to figure out

As adobe, macroers are not players, indeed they don't play it, they just cheat the game to get a profit in real life. autoclickers, auto fighters, autocutters... i don't care the ----, i would like to stop them, as everybody does, but the only way is to put in everybody's mind to don't buy rs gold in any sites... that's the only way, to make them fail and stop macroing. i am trying to say that they dont cheat to make the game more easy becouse they are lazy, if they cheat they actually don't play!

No seriously, i pity them...they cannot find better lives or understand the whole point of RuneScape, and that is to have fun, or at least relieve stress, or just be there when bored...but they find it more as a gold farm...I can't believe I get discriminated only because I'm Asian and many goldfarming sweatshops are found there...I pity them not knowing them because of their greed...

*sigh*...When will they ever learn...

Would I do it - no, I want to feel proud when I achieve something, even if that means I won't achieve everything.

People cheat for a lot of reasons. But in Runescape, most people 'cheat' (bot or scam) to get gold and sell it. But you can't anymore, so you will probably see the number of Bots and Scammers decrease.

Another reason people cheat is when the game gets boring. It happens really easily because RS is a repetitious game. People get tired of click on trees over and over so they create bots. People get tired of making money, so they scam.

People don't cheat because they are bab people, they are just lazy or got tired of it. It's not always greed, some people don't have the free time to accomplish a 99 stat. People have lives, and some people (everyone in the top 500+ of RS hiscores) don't.

Would I cheat? It really depends. If I got a really built up character, and I got banned for a bull crap reason or hacked, I might think about it, but I'd probably just stop playing instead.
