Anyone that is within the 5k members and that has been active since they have join, should be able to get this rank,
they have been though think and thin, seen it all, seen runecrypt rise from the ashes and claim our spot in one of runescapes top tip site,
they have been there supporting runescape for nearly the begining,
Just something that shows runecrypt appreciation, with some kind of rank, for us Oldies\Elders.

i think we would like it alot.
Broli
Well, I'm not one of those "Oldies" but I don't see any harm with having something like this.
Otter
Good idea, but I think it should be the lowered to 1-2k. When you look at the number of members we have, 5k is a lot of people/accounts.
Kalzilla
How about the first 5,185? sad.gif
Asa
think 1k-5k is apprpraiate since we are near 30k members, which btw is more.
Zaico
5k is a little too much, don't you think?

You just said 5k because you want to be one of them. tongue.gif
Cmafai
Any point to this? Or just as a sort of "thank you"?
Ian
No.

Because people will argue who can be classed as an oldie and who can't.

yeah I think it would be more of a "thanks".
Nick
Nope, not just because I'm like 10,000+

People would discriminate others bacause they're not an Older, then we start things like Olders are better than Newers, and so on and so forth.

No, not for any number of k
Asa
It would be some sort or thank you. and + if I was just saying my self, i would be up here going HEY!@(*&!@)!*@) MAKE MEH ELD0R
Silver
Asa, I know how much you wub.gif the old days... but this would just make a segregated community of sorts.

+ if I think right, it would be a massive overhaul...
rampage
Oh god, I r a newbie.
Row
Asa ur an elder with a wandofhax in my eyes..
Trees
Segregation is good!

I agree with the previous posts, it would have to much whining etc.
Maarten
Yes Asa you did say 1-5k because else you wouldn't be one. Of course you did, I would as well but it doesn't make sense. Real oldies are 1, maybe within 2k. But that's all, nothing more. But still I don't agree to this anyway, so meh.
No point in it.

How about people who have been around three years or so? Or maybe when a person hits a certain mark of a long membership, they get rewarded. Of course, they'd have to be active.

That sounds better. Most of the first 1-2k is no longer here.
Rob
I think there are still quite a few of the top 1-2k around.

High Fives Aaron?

Anyway, I wouldn't support any special rank but I would support an automated message on milestones such as year memberships.
Bliz
sounds nice, but should be upped to 5156 aa.png
or maybe when your here for 2+ years, and an avg of whatever posts a day.
its not upto me though, but something along these lines would be neat.

No offense, but you might not as well bother with automated messages. It really isn't worth it, lol. No one would really be bothered, as you can't really 'show off' your automated message, which is why this topic exists, as people want something to boast about.

I'd be in more support of the idea if you could have the member group if you were within the first 1/10th of members to join or so. This ensures that most people will get it at one point or another, plus being in the first 1/10th of members would count as being 'old,' in my opinion.

So for example, the only members to get the title now would be the members within the 1870.3 mark, but when we reach the 30,000 member mark, the first 3,000 to join would have the option of receiving it.

Rofl.
I'm still PO'd that I'm 20 away from being 1337. If I had only considered a bit earlier...
Maarten
If this were to happen I'd go with Plant's idea, but I still don't support this. I just don't see the need in it, Asa, your trying to say that if you would be "rewarded" for being active longer, you would actually stay longer just to get a rank which you could show off? o.O

Seriously, what's the point in this?

Popularity.

Ah yes. So like I said, no point.

Isn't the sweet member number enough eep.gif?
Asa
Thats True Ruk lol.

~Community issues~
I don't like this idea at all, awhile back RuneCrypt had a whole Old members VS. New members kinda attitude, I would be afraid of a such an episode repeating itself.

I can understand the need for recognition, we could possibly give rewards as far as custom member titles ect, but an entirely new user group for 'old' members is something that I'm simply not willing to support.

It would also have to be the eldest 1k or 5%, since 5k is over 20% of our member base. The problem you run into at that point is very simple, I can't think of any consistently active members with a member number below 1k that arn't currently a member of RuneCrypts staff or retired.

Frankly I always thought just having a super low member number was flashy enough. wink.gif
-Shows off member number- tongue.gif

~Claricial issues~
It would also be difficult to see what is classified as "Active" Or as having "Remained active" Throughout the entire period of time. It require a rather large amount of work from us staffers, simply because theres no way that I'm aware of to sort by join date (Although a specific date can be specified, a range of dates can not) Or member number. Because of that, we would literately have to sift through all of the current full/gold/silver member groups in order to figure out who's been here.

The only way to make such a list fair would be to use plants idea of taking % rather then a specific number, since what is considered "Old" is constantly changing. (After all, when I first joined RC there was no real concept of Old/new, however at one point members around 1-2k were considered newer) - but that would require constant updating - this wouldn't exactly be an easy thing to update since there is no real system in place as far as organizing members by member number/join date.
Bliz
Or more as a ''thank you'' for sticking with runecrypt from the beginning.
Ironman1441
You could determine how active someone is by looking at there average post.

ex.
member number 10 might post .3 times per day, so he couldn't be considered an elder.

member number 11 might post 3.4 times a day, so you could say he was an elder since he is a older member and a active member.
Maarten
I don't think people should be rewarded for having a good time, that would be a bit stupid. It's not like we were forced to stay here, so I don't think that we need to be thanked.
Beyblade
i dont like the idea as said before discrimination might happen
Kody
Nothings wrong with this, i've been here since nearly the beggining and am here every day, but don't post much. This would be a great idea though IMO.

You do realize that you have only been here for not more then a year and a half, right? RuneCrypt was Founded in June '04, not even close to the date when you joined, and you would be far off to be considered as an "elder" wink.gif

Not that I support this idea, but still...
Zhou
No.

Mainly because some of the most contributive members may be discluded from this group.
Cmafai
There is simply no way to define a member number that says if you are below this number "You are old (and therefore cool and deserve a special title)" and if you are above this number "You are not old (and therefore don't deserve this title as much and don't give as much to the site)".

Age/Time since joining, should not be rewarded... imagine this:

Member #300 joins and stays for 3 years, then leaves shortly after this title is announced, but he gets the title anyways, and keeps it.

Member #10000 joins too late for the title, but stays 10 years through thick and thin. He isn't eligible for the title.

Kinda like me ohmy.gif

I've been here for awhile, but this would suck for me because I wouldn't get the title.
Majority of the members that have joined from the first 1-5000 don't even log on anyway, and they would get it? sad.gif

I'm not all onto this idea, sorry.

rocof
sad.gifsad.gif *looks at number*

what a shame.

anyway I don't support this idea because it would make some members who came too late for title but also worked hard, helped the community and stayed here for many years.

RSK
damn im 482 out of the top 5k lol.

but ive been here nearly 3 years :/

but you cant take average post counts as an idea of active ( which is 1.3 per day) , im on here nearly every day. i just dont post crap, and try to make my posts meaningfull smile.gif

(not saying anyone with a high postcount posts crap)
Silver
I post crap.
Sexy Crap.

But I'm still against this.
I haven't seen any good reason to have it

Are you implying that pimping is stupod? ph34r.gif

If this is a popularity contest, why not just call each other by their numbers? like that prison movie? Then you could be banned for not adhering to those rules. And Andy brainwashes us.

woooooo hoooo! im an Elder! do i get any special powers? we can be the council of runecrypt and i can be the council head!

Hmm that was rather pointless.

Anyway, I don't agree with this idea its stupid. Why do you need to be an elder? if you were first 10k I'm sure you would say first 10k. Its a rank that doesn't help with anything and is completely useless. Your member number works exactly the same so what would be the point?

Frankly there are too many complications and too few rewards for an idea like this. Your low member numbers will have to be sexy enough.. theres no reason to segregate runecrypt based around member number - especially when alot of our newer members have contributed so much to rc and would be left out.
