Best regular season record (16-0)
Most TDs thrown in regular season (Brady: 50)
Most TD receptions by a single receiver in regular season (Moss: 23)
Most points scored in a single season (589)
Best defense in points allowed (36.6 avg)
... and the list goes on.

The question I have for you is, are the '07 NE Patriots the best team ever, or do the need to win the Super Bowl first? Or, are they not necessarily the best team even if they win it all?

I say that they are dang close after this regular season, but it will seal the deal if they win the Super Bowl.
Silver
People crowned the 1998 Vikings.
30-27 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in OT.

And if I remember right... the Patriots/Colts rivalry... the past like 6 or 7 years... the road team has won.

I'd say that had a good year... but look at their division. They were handed a 6-0 start.
hulkster174
it made me mad they should have been dqed for the cheating game agaisnt the jets put a * by there name in the record book for cheating
Silver
Hulkster.
Everyone does it.
Bellicheck got caught.

No biggie.
Kalzilla
Yeah I believe their records should be asterisked.

They're going to choke in the playoffs anyways, always looking forward to that.

Football (American) is kind of boring IMO. You move like 10 feet and then you stop for a minute. Move a couple more feet, etc.

It helps build excitement/suspense IMO.

The ravens coulda won, but he had to be a dummy and get us a penalty. I think we lost by 3 points that game.
Zhou
I think your last statistic is flawed.

Best team ever, no doubt.

Might need an asterisk in the record book, though.
Broli
I don't really care for football. I'm not really into watching sports. I'd rather play sports for fun and such, but other than that, I'm not much into them. I would just say they had a good season from what I've heard from friends.
Cypress
Yeah, we were off by 3 points. I think we got the closest to beating them this season?

Pfft everyone know the Dolphins are going to win the superbowl. wink.gif

theyre definetly not the best team ever...it seems they're losing their momentum. look at their last few games, barely pulling off wins. now they're gonna choke in the playoffs.

I'm a packer fan, and I think they'll get it. Last time they played Cowboys they were short a few players on defense; notably Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila and Charles Woodson. And they've probably learned from their mistakes from the last game and will be ready for them
Kalzilla
I personally think the Skins are gonna go all the way. They're heating up just at the right time, and looked GREAT against Dallas. But who knows, the NFC is a total tossup.

Pfft.

Who can challenge them? Look at the statistics.

The 1972 Dolphins were only 14-0, and only beat 1 team with a winning record.

Who can challenge them?

The Eagles, Ravens, Giants and Colts all gave them a good run for their money in the regular season.

The Chargers have vastly improved since week 2.

All it takes is an untimely injury or maybe just a bad hair day for the Pats to lose one. If they meet the Jaguars, the Colts or the Chargers in the playoffs, they're going to have to work for the conference title. Hard.

Edit: Plus I'm sure Peyton won't be happy about Brady breaking his TD record.
crosseboy91
I think theyre the best team ever. I think the Jaguars are the second best team in the AFC (yes, I know they lost twice to the colts), and I think that the Super Bowl will be Patriots over Packers.

Having said that...I really hope the Patriots dont have to play the Jaguars because although I think they would win it, the Jags have all the right tools to stop them.

You better pray the Steelers can pull off a win without Willie Parker.
Ironman1441
I would say there the best till they have had a perfect season.
So far Miami is the only team to have a perfect season.
Annoyingfish
Best team ever...

Nah I really don't know I only watch the occasional game and that's because I support the Patriots because they were in the first superbowl I ever watched and I decided to support them.

They are doing quite well this season though, they are undefeated aren't they?

Yeah, that kind of has happened now.

The Dolphins were a joke.

The competition for the Patriots is much tougher.

No, they've had a perfect regular season, which has been done 3 times before. To have a perfect season they have to win the Super Bowl as well.

If the 1972 dolphins were a joke you'd have to think the whole 1972 season was a joke? They did go undefeated.

You can talk all the smack you want but you'll be quiet once your Patriots lose in the Playoffs.

Have you always been a Patriots fan?

Going undefeated during the regular season then breezing through the playoffs to win the Super Bowl is no joke.
Kalzilla
The Patriots had the 24th ranked strength of a schedule.

Beat 4-12 Jets twice. What a feat.

Beat 7-9 Buffalo twice. Gosh.

Beat 1-15 Miami twice......wow!!

Beat 7-9 Cincinnati. Golly.

Squeaked by 8-8 Philly. Awesome.

Had to have 3, count them, three FOURTH down tries to slither past the Ravens. Won because of their own penalty...lol.

Trailed Indy until the last three minutes of the game. Won after Bob Sanders left with an injury. This was a Colts team playing without five starters, including Marvin Harrison.

All those who say they had a hard schedule need to check again.
Zhou
I'm not even a fan of the Patriots. Unfortunately, they are unstoppable.

I'd absolutely love it if the Patriots got beaten by the Colts.

But Tom Brady connecting with Randy Moss makes an onslaught. Wes Welker is pretty dangerous, too.

Regardless of how they won, they still won.

They DESTROYED the Cowboys, their only challenge from the NFC (The Cowboys destroyed the Packers).

*goes into tears* Gary Anderson misses 1 field goal that year....had to be during that game *sigh*

Anyway..on topic

I think anyone with a good enough defense will stop the Pats passing.

Tennessee will be the team to do it wink.gif

That's a nice dream and all but they're gonna get it up the butt from San Diego on Sunday.

Tennessee is a decent team this year, but they are not going to the Super Bowl. They barely squeaked into the playoffs after beating the Colts whom were resting all their starters anyways.

Kalzilla, the patriots didnt have a tough schedule? They played the Cowboys, Chargers, Colts, Steelers, and Giants. Some of the other teams were still pretty good (Cleveland and Washington). My opinion is that the Patriots DO NOT use much of their playbook near the end of the season, because those games dont mean anything to them. During the playoffs, I think theyll blow out both opponents and beat GB in the Super Bowl. Just because they have an easy division DOES NOT mean they didnt work for 16-0.

They played some good teams but they got a good chunk of their wins from the worst division in the league which is full of below .500 teams.

Ill admit that, and all that Ill say now is we will see...If they beat Jacksonville, Indy (most likely), and win the super bowl, than I think it will be pretty obvious that they are completely worthy of every win.

I agree, but no love from me until they win it all.
Ironman1441
I hope the chargers go all the way, running over the Patriots in the process.
crosseboy91
Ironman, that means theyd have to beat the Colts and Pats, and than play in the Super Bowl. I wouldnt want to be in that position lol.

How many more predictions must I make.

Jags > Pats

ill keep doing this if i have to tongue.gif

Looks like you're going to have to wait a year or two eh.gif

Really, NE had no problem with the Jaguars. The score was 11 points apart, but it easily could have been more if Belicheck had thrown in the red flag, and if our secondary didn't blow for the majority of the game.

Edit: Lmao at some of the guys in one of Kal's pics:

I can't wait till they play this weekend.
The weather is supposed to be horrible though.
I think the chargers will win, since Brady won't be able to throw the ball.

Pats are known to be great when they play in the elements, and I think that the bad weather will have equal effect on both QBs.... if you are saying that we will have to run it, I'm pretty confident in Maroney wink.gif

Thats true but between Maroney and LT I am putting my money on LT.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Getting scared yet, Kal? H.gif
Kalzilla
Go Giants, I guess. Even though the Packers are the better team the cold weather owned Favre. Oh well. I just don't want the Patriots to win it all.

Damn cheaters.
