Never really payed too much attention to this game, but I certainly will from now on. Wow. Will Wright is a genius IMO.
Alex, don't be ridiculous. This game wont be about the way it looks, it's the many different ways in which you can play the game. 2 Players can have a completely different experience off this game, someone who loves violence could love this, but also someone who loves to do everything by the rules. So basically this game is made for everyone. Anyone could enjoy it. At least, that's what I think.

As far as I can tell, PC, Wii and DS. Pc version is probably gonna be the very best out of them all, but that's just my idea.. Since when they started developing it was their intention to release it for the PC You could easily tell btw, since especially in the beginning you could see a mouse pointer

I know maarten, but I miss the older styles. The molecular phase is a little too cute imo, with those big cartoony eyes the land creatures look really good though.

According to Wikipedia:
QUOTE
Microsoft Windows, Nintendo DS, and mobile phone versions of the game have been confirmed. Beuchner stated in a G4TV interview that the DS and mobile phone versions will focus on one phase of the game. Other platforms have been discussed, but not officially announced.
Wright expressed the desire to release the game on other platforms, such as seventh generation consoles, the PlayStation Portable and the Apple Macintosh. In a GameSpy interview, Wright stated, "Well, actually we are going to go on all platforms, but we will come out on PC first. We will even come out on cell phones and stuff."
In a Videogamesblogger.com interview, Wright said that the game will take different forms on the different consoles. As for the Wii, Wright also said that it offers a lot of creative opportunities so the Wii may receive a different game. On October 26, 2007, Wright expressed a desire to develop for the Wii because the console was his "favorite platform" (though he did not elaborate any plans for a Wii version), in what was called an "off-the-cuff" statement, and as of January 2, 2008, no official announcement from Electronic Arts has been forthcoming.
Okay, according to X-Play, Spore will be released September this year. Damn!
EDIT:
If you aren't aware, the Spore Creature Creator has been released. You can download the trial for free which only has limited parts or buy the full version with all the parts. (It costs roughly $10.)
I am hoping to buy the full version today. It is really fun to play with and there is not many parts on the trial. A real tease!

Ugghh I hope they filter those out. I don't want my creature to be running from/trying to eat those horrid attempts at humor. Those and all the barney and carebear look-a-likes that'd be running around.

I'm sorry, but I have to rant about EA once again. I'm really disappointed that I have to pay for a freaking creature creator. Why the **** would I pay for such a stupid thing? It's impossibly stupid. I'll see if I can pull it off *another network*

It still looks far too like the Sims franchise too me; and if there's anything I despise most about EA, it's the Sims franchise. If anyone here gives it any good reviews then I'll consider torrent-ing it but I still doubt it's worth my money.

Truly an amazing game, I saw the trailer when it was first announced. I think it is the most innovative idea for a game ever, and it is sure to be a success. Really does blow my mind, I mean, think about how hard that must be to code something that can dynamically figure out how your creature moves, reacts, and all of that, and allows you to create as much of a messed up create as you want, and it still can figure out how to make it move so smoothly. Simply a technological wonder.
Real shame there will be alot of people abusing it, like they already have, with obscene creatures and the like...
And a real shame my computers can't support any high-end games... Hopefully in the future when I get the money to blow on a top-of-the-line gaming system, I'll remember to pick this one up. (They will probably have Spore 3 by time that happens, lol.)

Are you planning on taking two decades to get a top-of-the-line gaming system? Its taken like 7 years to make Spore.

Bought it. Played it. It's a good game but not worth the full price. It's far too short. It took me all of five hours to get from the Cell Stage to the end of the Civilization Stage within which I conquered several planets.
The replayability factor is questionable. I for one did not feel motivated to return to the Cell Stage and start a different cell and play through the game again straight away. That said, it is likely that one rainy day I will play through it again because, although short, it is a lot of fun.
The major problem is the Civilization or RTS-style stage; it is far too easy. I managed to wipe out all of my enemies while playing the game on the 'Normal' difficulty in a very short ammount of time with very few units.
However the stages prior to the Tribal Stage are real gems and definitely something unseen in other games before.
If you have the money; buy it. If you're not sure then I'd suggest seeing if you can try it out somewhere else before spending your money on it.

Ah the fun I had on it after 3 weeks of agonizing waiting for a new graphics card.
I find that no matter how strong of allies that are attacking types, you still can't bring down an epic monster.
