Well, with the release of Summoning, I thought I might take a stab writing a quest guide. Even though I didn't write it, I'm somewhat glad I didn't get around to it because while browsing the forums I saw that one had already been written. So I looked through this forum (Site Submissions and Suggestions), and didn't see any threads about anyone writing a guide for the new quest. Now, I noticed Rocof had written the guide, him being a writer, I guessed that maybe it was posted in the cd only forum, and put up rather quickly. So I have a few question(s) and/or suggestions.

Are normal members, advanced, full etc. not expected to write quest guides/skill guides anymore?

If not (as in we can/should still write), then I have a few suggestions. Maybe post a sticky, in this forum, that can be edited to let the regular members know whats being worked on currently and whats been completed, so that someone doesn't waste a whole lot of time writing something that has already been written. That, or maybe just continue to post their work on guides and such here. In all honesty this could have just been a one time thing, that was just quick and easy to do so there wasn't really any need to make it public. If I've missed anything that would answer what I'm talking about, then just link me to it please, and close this topic. Thanks.

Yea, I was thinking of that awhile ago. Sounds nice smile.gif.

I totally agree Hunter. I was looking for a guide for this quest. Which is set to being a MEDIUM level quest when really it's one of the easiest quests ever I looked in the site submissions forum like I always do and nothing was there. So I figure a guide isn't up. I ended up doing the quest on my own, but it would really be helpful for us regular members to be let known where and when a new guide is submitted.

The writers do indeed have their own forum which they use to communicate and compose guides more efficiently.

I will always encourage normal members to write guides and such, not only does that give us a better range of content and more opportunities for creativity then our core writers could provide alone, but it would be rather hard to hire new writers if no one submitted anything.

I will work with the Silver/Cecchi to devise some sort of system that will allow anyone interested in writing a guide to know if it is already in progress.

Currently the entire summoning skill guide is in development and steady progress is being made on it, however I would still encourage anyone who wants to write some sort of guide describing any specific part of the skill to do so; however i can not guarantee it'll be used or hasn't already been developed. Chances are we will be able to at least incorporate parts of any ones guide into what the writers are working on since it is a new skill and its unlikely that we will catch every little thing right away. smile.gif

I don't think anything fancy is needed... a pinned topic in this forum (Will that make it so we have 123 things pinned in this forum) can just outline what is being worked on at the moment by the writers.

You can expect all skill guides and quest guides to be written by the Writers, although pictures, and extra info can never hurt, so submit it if you like.

Also, as Matt said:

If you have any pictures/statistics/info on Summoning, post em in the Summoning topic I will make in 30 seconds!

Like stated before, 'normal' members can still post their guides.
It's seems pretty obvious, because i can't imagine that the writers know everything about Runescape.

And by the way, Hellooooooooooooooo, your post wasn't really needed. Try to type more than one word in a post.

Well, it didn't seem to obvious to me at the time. Since no regular member was informed about the updating of the quest guide for "Wolf Whistle", it lead me to the assumption that the writers would be handling all of the guide writing from that point.

Just as a follow up question. If Writers will be writing most of the guides for quests and such, what kind of basis are you going to use when hiring new writers?

If you alone can write a guide faster than all 7 of us combined, I suppose that might be grounds for getting hired.

Nope, just make 1 sticky with a list of the current guides in progress thumbsup.gif

Raven, that's not exactly the answer I'm looking for, although I probably just worded my question wrong. I'm asking, since the writers are expected to handle most of the guide writing, when the time comes to hire more writers, due to the possibility that some have retired from rs, or are no longer active on Rc. What kind of guidelines will the staff use to hire new writers. Since the writers have handled most the guides up until then, it would be kind of hard to hire new writers, since regular members wouldn't be writing guides anymore. I'm just trying to figure out how the system works, I'm not asking for myself.
