Honestly, been reading up on it, been trying to understand it, get an idea, but it's really confusing me more and more.
I understand it was beginning to be researched because the path of electrons defied the physics of, something electromagnetism and/or newtons third law of motion?

So it had been researched to try and understand how this happens and why, and so far we've stumbled upon sub atomic particles (or theorized maybe?) and many other factors that are basically the core of the matter that is the core of us.

So is quantum mechanics basically trying to understand how atoms and their parts work in short?
Or is it something much more complex?

Well, I'm not entirely sure, but I think quantum mechanics is using atoms for several purposes. I remember seeing a topic similar to this, and i think it relates to things like teleportation in a way by seperating atoms, and putting them back together in a different spot, like from somewhere in the USA to Japan i wish anyway, lol. But yeah, its mostly using atoms for many different purposes.

Quantum Physics is much too complicated for you. I don't say that in a condescending manner; rather, it is simply too much of an advanced physics subject for you to understand. Perhaps after a few classes in Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism you can be introduced to some modern physics concepts. However, even the scientists that developed the theory don't wholly agree on it.

Although I agree, I'm always curious to new concepts. But I can't argue with you on this, there's a reason why I asked; mainly pertaining to the mentioning of nanotechnology leading towards atoms which lead to their electrons and their paths.
