Ive no doubt you've all been seeing the 200+ People who dont log into RuneCrypt yet aimlessly read the forums and guides etc? If you haven't press the "Last Click" and you'll see.
My suggestion is this, make all forums bar the Register and Help forums only viewable by registered members, I was surprised too see how many forums are viewable by guests.
In theory this should make more people log in and hopefully post, thats my suggestion anyhow. If it gets rejected so be it.

Or perhaps they'll just register and become one of the thousands of inactive members.

Actually to be honest, I think it would cut down the amount of people joining.
I've heard a lot of people joining from the Intro forums saying something like 'I've been going on this site for a while and just reading, now I've decided to join'
Also, a lot of those guests just look at the guides

Like me. I found out about Runecrypt about a year or more ago, and I used it just for the Dragon Slayer guide (which I read like 1m times). Then I joined later.

I wouldn't recommend that tbh. Although it has some positive effects, they're outweighed by negatives as there may be more people just going to a different site than actually signing up. People need to see what a site is like before they join up, so it is important we allow that.

I don't support either, I think a lot of people will not bother to register and just find another forum, I lurked for a few months before I registered and if I wouldn't have been able to see the forums I would probably not have joined.

This type of strategy would only work if the majority of our content was forum based. Since all guests can view all of our guides and such there would be no incentive for them to be able to register without being able to see our community in action.
I'll leave this open for discussion. I am interested in different things we can offer exclusively to registered members without restricting the current amount of content available to guests.

Why not just copy jagex then, leave all the F2P related stuff viewable by anyone and make the P2P viewable via members.

why dont when a guest types in the url instead of going to the home page a page comes up which tells them to register. They can accept now or later. If they press later they go to the site.

Wouldnt be that hard to do, Just an index.html - Index.html.
The index.html will load when you enter www.runecrypt.com - All you'll need is www.runecrypt.com/index.php on the member enter button.
Its basic you would need validation of membership in the backgroud, i dont know the fine details of the code, only the basic code but im guessing the content guys would be the ones to do it anyhow xD

Umm i have no idea what you said but ok.
here is another idea. Under the post counter put contribuation. And add to the register if you where recomended to the site by another member and put a space where the guest can put the name of the person who recemended to to runecrypt. For everyone you recamend you get a contribuation point.

I don't see how that would get us more active posters, just more registred names..

Well now you have to register according to the front page xD.

yah, like vipey and maart said, that would just bring more inactive users which is basically useless. there's no point on having many registered users if none of them posts.
