Full Version: My Graphics Card Isn't On The Register List

My graphics card is the ATI Radeon HD 3450 which I have in a Dell computer.
Dxdiag says it's got 1020 MB of ram on it, but my brother thinks its leeching off the main ram.
I'm using it on Vista with Direct X 10 (I'm not sure if I have 10.1)

My question is this:

I'm trying to officially register it on ATI so that when my computer's warranty runs out, I can seek support from ATI themselves. However, on the register screen located here I can't seem to figure out exactly which card it is, mostly because I don't know exactly who the manufacturer is seeing as ATI Technologies inc. is not on the list.

Dxdiag says this about it:

Name: ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series
Manufacturer: ATI Technologies inc.
Chip type: ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x95C5) - dont know if thats a zero or an O.
DAC type: Internal DAC (400 MHz)
Approx. total memory: 1020 MB
Current display mode: 1680 x 1050 (32-bit) (60Hz)
Monitor: Dell E207WFP
DDI version: 10.1

...plz don't ask for the driver, its a very long complicated letter-number thing XD.gif

And I think I know from random review sites (each site's image is of a different card blink.gif )that it is:
PCI
PCI Express 2 support
HDMI support
Direct X 10.0 compatible (which I am using)

If somebody could help me find out which of the cards on the list it is so I can register it, I would be very grateful.
Matt
The only way anyone is going to be able to determin exactly what card it is would be to either get the serial number from the phycial card itself - or get the hardware ID of the card using a program like Unknown Device Identifier. (Just google it - its free)

Even with the hardware ID there is no sure fire way to get the cards exact make. The best possible way to figure it out would be to look on the card itself and see who made it. IE Saphire ect.

Still got the box? it usually has it on there xD, failing that do what matt said.

EDIT: Oh i looked through the manufacturers on the list you sent and if there right your GFX card is stealing from your main ram. Unless your card is a "VisionTek Radeon HD 3870 X2 1GB PCI-e" Thats the only one with 1GB of ram.

No, I do not have the box. With Dell, you either buy a base computer or go online and pick the bits you want (customise) which is what I did. I clicked the graphics card button and it arrived installed in the computer.

Yeah, I know. Dell are just censored1bt.gif censored1bt.gif censored1bt.gif *12 hours of ranting later*

You should have an invoice somewhere, well either you or your parents. Failing that open the side up and have a peek at any number on the GFX card, write them down and then google away.

Failing that - Belarc Advisor

Scan > Install, it will give you a HTML print out with the result.

I'm not going to void my warranty or risk anything by opening up the side even though I know what I'm doing, and the third one was no help, sorry. It couldn't detect that I had antivirus and the graphics card was
"ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series [Display adapter]" - which isn't exactlly on the list.

I'll look for the invoice though...

EDIT: I know its been a while, but I forgot and forgot and didn't get around to it heh.gif

The invoice thing (on the order acknowledgement that was emailed to me) says:
"ATI Radeon HD 3450 (DVI+HDMI, VGA dongle, DMI dongle)"
...and has two medium-sized numbers in square brackets next to it, which my brother says can give away some unique thing about it, so I won't post them.
RaDave
Double post ftw xD "ATI Radeon HD 3450 (DVI+HDMI, VGA dongle, DMI dongle)" should be all you need to get a driver.

Driver Linkage.
Saebjorn
What? huh.gif

I'm not looking for a driver, sorry. I'm looking for the exact Manufacturer, etc and information on it so that I can register it here.

Uh...can anybody help me?
Matt
Do not double post.. It makes the forum all cluttery. sad.gif

With the information you have provided it is not possible to give you the exact manufacture and make of your card.
Saebjorn
But none of the suggested things showed any results. Do you know of any other way to find out the information? I am worried that the overall warranty on my computer will run out (in another 6-18 months-ish, not sure) and then I won't have support for my graphics card.

Open the side up as was suggested earlier. The number should be on the card. Failing that your out of luck sorry.
Saebjorn
Darn. That means that I can't find it out until I open it once the warranty runs out - which will most likely be to buy a new graphics card anyway. sad.gif
Maarten
Why would it break anyway huh.gif

And if it would break, doesn't dell give you full support...
Saebjorn
They probably would, though I remember not ticking the utmost fullest longest time period support when I bought it. What I am worried about is when after the warranty runs out and they no longer support me, I would like support for the GFX from its makers - which is being offered.

As of breaking, the graphics card is already not the greatest out there, and in a couple of years I will probably be needing a new one.
Maarten
Well, why don't you register it when it breaks then. Stop being paranoid.
Saebjorn
Becuase I can't register it without knowing exactly which card it is on that list.

EDIT: Bump. Nothing for it but to open the computer up when I need a new one? sad.gif
