Full Version: Christmas Competition?

Simple idea ive seen done before with varying results.

Idea:

Users submit prizes to be won and then there split into 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes. To win you'd have to do something like post the most amount of relevant posts (Spam is automatic removal from competition) or pick a number, if your number gets called you win something simple.

Seen as RC seems to be dying slowly id go with the relevant posts option, Only problem is how to monitor how many people post (if anyone knows how please mention) failing that the 3 digit number idea works well.

numbers 001 - 999 are available for grabs you simply post a number up and a prize your willing to donate, this can be RS Gold, Items etc.

You can only enter 1x 3digit number, any multiples wont be accepted.

If you do use the number option then you would need to update the number every day obviously to stop people just pressing reply and entering any 3 number digit.

Ive a 14 day Guild Wars trail key knocking about i can enter along with some RS stuff. happy.gif

Thats the idea anyhow, feedback?

I'm confused about the posting thing. How does that work?
Cmafai
We could easily track who has the most posts over the last X amount of days, that would not be an issue.

The prizes, however, are a bit tougher. It's not possible to trade large amounts of items any more, and RL items are hard to send.
Bliz
Besides I don't think posting alot for items sounds like such a good idea.

Allthough I like the idea.. but like cmafai said, it would be hard to transfer alot of items/cash now.
RaDave
Make it the minimum you can transfer with no quest points, i think its 5k could be wrong. Whoever the winner is you can arrange times just to meet up with other players.

Failing that a RC prize? Sig, Avatar etc.

Because I would win. I'm a postfag hash.gif

^^ Postfag ^^

I could be possible to give out a couple silver status memberships here on crypt. I dunno though, it's sort of out of my control.

Nice idea though. It would be very complicated to gather all the info from the members that posted each day. Picking number would be ok, though if it went to somebody that never came back again, it would be rather pointless.

silver memberships should be for crypters who earn it. i think prizes should be like sigs and avys.

Because giving $1 totally counts as "earning it". Get real.

No, because some of us have spent some time finding the right tags to express ourselves. Besides, that would require someone to make it (spending their time).

I like the idea of Silver Memberships, that'd be crackalackin. I don't say just because I'm a postfag and would win either aa.png

I don't think people will post more non-spam posts just because you can get silver member by it.

Silver memberships are a good idea actually, imo.

The idea has potential, but in reality it's probably too hard or takes too much work to realise, IMO.

I don't get the number idea. Explain?

Oh and ziz, you're a forum leader, if that doesn't work then why don't you figure out how to do it elseway, it's your job after all wink.gif

From now until December 20th, simply reply to this thread (once) with your number. Those who are entering can pick their own numbers, as long as it is reasonable. I will then take all of the submitted numbers and draw the winners from a hat. I used the hat method for a mini destroyer giveaway I did for the people outside the states that couldnt get the mag, and it worked just fine. If you simply want to comment on this thread, feel free.

To avoid similar problems from last year, only submissions by members who are currently registered to the forum at the time of this post are eligible. There seemed to be a possibility that a few people may have been making more than one account to enter. So let's avoid that problem this year {$default_smiley_smiley}.

Please do not use numbers that exceed 4 digits. Also, please please PLEASE read the list of taken numbers before choosing your own, to avoid taking one already in use. If you happen to choose a number that is already taken, your submission may not be counted. I was lucky enough to have a few members help keep an eye on things last year and help spot errors/double selections which was very helpful.

Winner ?

After the drawing on the 20th, I will announce the winners via this thread. Upon winning, I will pm your account here on the forums to let you know you have won, in case you miss the announcement. I will also add all 3 winners to my friends lists to make contacting them more efficient. Once you see that you have one, feel free to add me as well.

This was the rules from where i saw this work - Presearing.com
Please note to see this for yourself you'd have to register to the forums, its why i posted all the rules.

EDIT: Also posting limits would promote spam, after thinking about it I shouldnt of put number of posts.

Looks at Otter - Postfag XD

My posts are thought declarations of my opinion. Not stupid, pointless messages. The annoying could be argued, but I'd win that Sage.

I'd win, no probs.
