Runecrypt Holiday/Winter Banner Design Competition

Here it is boys and girls, the holiday season is upon us! So let's get the ball rolling by helping your beloved Runecrypt community get into the festive mood!
  • Each contestant is allowed only 1 entry to the competition
  • Every banner entered must have a Christmas/winter/holiday theme, not necessarily Runescape-related.
  • Every banner must be of dimensions 480 pixels wide x 170 pixels tall. Please do not sign your banners.
  • The winning entries will have the Runecrypt Text added, and the right side of the banner will be blended into the top navigation bar. Please keep this in mind when designing your banner. Do not add the text to the banner yourself.
The rules & guidelines for this competition are as follows:
  • All banners must be PM 'd to me by the 17th of December @ 12:00 GMT (noon).
  • YOU MAY NOT SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY IN THIS TOPIC, or describe it in any way. If you do so, you will be disqualified.
  • Once the entries are all submitted they will be put to a staff vote. These qualifiers will then be voted on by all the members. Depending on the number of entries, we may put all of them up for a vote. This will be subject to change.
  • There will be 4 winners, and all winning banners will be on rotation at Runecrypt from the 22nd of December till the 4th of January. Extra RuneCrypt surprises will be awarded to the winners.
  • Photoshop users can download a template .PSD here.
  • If you have any other questions regarding the design of your banner, please PM me. Do not post about it here.
Good luck to all those competing!

The RuneCrypt Staff

Remember:

IPB Image

The area outlined In Red (the RuneCrypt text) will be added to the 4 winning banners.
The area outlined in Green (the blend effect to the top nav bar) will also be applied to the 4 winning banners.
You do not have to add this yourself.

Please keep this in mind when designing your banners.

If you are using Photoshop, you can download a template in .PSD format here.

And last, if you would like to use the "Runecrypt" font, the one used on the current banners, it can be downloaded here.

I remember my entry two years ago mellow.gif Hope it never happens again.

Meh, I'll try again this year. Good luck to all entrants.

Sounds fun smile.gif
I might play around with a banner.
Overdoziz
My entry last year actually got in the top 4, so I'm sure to try it again. smile.gif

And btw, this looks like it's better at it's place in the Graphic Art forum.
Kevinboos
If I have nothing better to do, I might make one.

Can't wait to see all the entries smile.gif.

not necessarily Runescape-related.

Just to clarify that - that means than the picture behind the text (that isn't placed by us) can be anything xmas/winter/holiday themed?

Yes, as far as I know, as long as it's appropriate.
Cmafai
Yes, you can make a more graphical type image if you prefer, rather than going for the classic RuneScape picture approach.
Saebjorn
Kk. Will set about an entry sometime soon.
Insidian
I submit that strange fruit would be a sublime choice for a holiday background.
Saebjorn
Whats with the size change - and don't say because you changed the actual banner - why?
Cmafai
We got the dimensions wrong the first time eep.gif Using the new dimensions the banners will fit in the layout nicely.
Totally Buff
Sorry, my bad eep.gif

I forgot that we changed the dimensions of the banner over the past year. I should've checked it before posting the topic, but I was in a rush to get the post on the board so people would have more time to get started. We can still accept the previously posted size, if it's a problem.

Hey i might go for this!
