So, I've been looking for parts for a new PC as one of my friends will be building it for me. Listed below is what I have so far. I'd like your guys' opinions and any advice/changes/suggestions etc etc I should make. Thanks. Ah, I almost forgot - it will be for lots of gaming and some casual stuff.

The price right now is about $900. I'd like to keep it within the $1,000 area if possible. Cheaper parts that are better than current ones are good. smile.gif

Wow nice stuff... one thing I would probably recommend; have a look at quadcore processors and see if their prices are within any budget you may have set.

All 'chips' have to be averaged out. What I mean by this is having a crap motherboad, but 16GB of RAM will definitely NOT help.

Therefore, Seeing as you have an extra $100 to spend, I would suggest moving up to a core 2 duo processor, as a Dual-core is not that great, and will definitely not be bought for new computers in 1 or 2 years. I searched "core 2 duo" on that website, and every single result was great on a simple level - all above 2.4GHz which is good. The 3+GHz processors would we WOWs, especially combined with your 4GB of RAM.

If I'm wrong, correct me.

intel is usually better, and i would recommend going with a 120$ core 2 duo and a like priced mobo to the one you have now that supports intel. what do would you use this computer for?

EDIT:
i just looked at your video card. you are vastly underpowering your cpu if you don't change. if you want that card to be worth more than crap, upgrade your cpu. also, i would recommend a nvidia card, but that again is just personal preference.

You don't seem to have a clue what you're talking about, quad cores arent even good for gaming.

What I don't get is why you are getting an amd x2. Get a core 2 duo or a nehalem processor. They are just lots better, for some apperant reason.
