Alright, it's become somewhat obvious that the old "What Are You Listening To" topic had become...well, a big 109-page topic of spam.
So, in order to create a somewhat more meaningful topic, I've decided to create this thread...unoriginally titled Version 2.
The big difference with this topic is that you may no longer just post what song you're listening to. If you do this, your post will be deleted.
If you want to make a post in this topic, you need to:
Post the song you're listening to and...
Some information about the band / bands you're listening to
Now, we don't want some info that you've copied and pasted off Wikipedia. Give us something a bit more interesting...perhaps what you like about the band, maybe something interesting about them, or you could even let us know how you started listening to them.
Of course, by this, we don't want you posting stuff like:
QUOTE
A Song - Band
becuz theyr cool!
That would be just as spammy and uninteresting as the old topic. Put some meaning into your post, and make people want to read it.
Got it?
To recap Rules
Do not just post song names and artists. Make the post meaningful. Include insight about how you found the band, why you like the song, tour dates, etc.
Thank you, and goodnight
I'll start
Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt
One of my favorite albums of all time, and I'm so stoked that they are coming back for a tour. Their new album should be coming out soon, and if I'm lucky, it will blow the pants off of that last album they called a "ska album". Oh, and if I'm lucky, Pintogram (Otter) and I will be at the same show!

I prefer Personality Crisis by New York Dolls
Plus, they were more glamorous.
Spaghetti Streetwalker by Speechwriters LLC Good chill song, about girls and what not. Just in such a mellow mood. Anyone looking for sappy acoustic music that resembles a less theatric Coldplay should definitely check out Speechwriters LLC.
My cousin showed me it this weekend and I'm addicted to it.

A Tribute To In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 by Coheed and Cambria - by The Tallywood String Quartet
So, in case you guys didn't know. TSQ does a bunch of tributes of a bunch of popular bands songs (R.E.M., Coldplay, Iron Maiden, GNR, Hendrix, Zeppelin, NIN, RHCP, Weezer, etc.) and they usually just do greatest hits of the bands. BUT FOR THIS TIME, THEY JUST REDID THE ENTIRE ALBUM. FRONT TO BACK. In Keeping Secrets is just like Claudio and Coheed recorded it. Except, in a string version, with no lyrics.
I highly suggest you check out some of their other covers. The Hendrix one is probably my favorite.

Everything Went Numb by Streetlight Manifesto
One of the greatest ska songs of all time. Despite what Pintogram says, the album this is off of, Everything Goes Numb, is the best Streetlight Manifesto album, and probably the best ska album of all time.
Definitely listen to it, or bad things will happen to you.

This topic's original appeal was lost after the first incarnation got locked. It used to be able all about what your current song playing is and not talking about band history. There is just too much emphasis on musical discussion/debate here when that portion could have easily been a seperate topic.

Oh yes, absolutely love that song. And I'm also currently listening to Streetlight Manifesto, That'll be the Day another one of my favorites from that album. Although, there isn't a song on that album that I don't like. What I'm really looking forward to is the 99 Songs of Revolution project. They said they were aiming for it to be released sometime in early 09, the Streetlight part of it at least, so I'm hoping for it to come out soon.

The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show - Blink-182 If you are a Blink-182 "fan" and don't have this, Cheshire Cat, and Dude Ranch, GTFO, you aren't a real fan.

Laat Oss Ta Allt Fraan Darandra by Shining. I put my iTunes on shuffle, that's why i'm currently listening to it. it sends serious shivers down my spine. and i'm seeing them live but have heard such weird things about them. if anyone heard of what happens in Norway's Black Metal scene this stuff runs pretty much on the same lines. btw, on a different note, Dinty, Frank Sinatra nice. my mum really likes him and i've started to as well, possibly as a result of hearing his music every saturday and sunday for the past 16 years.
