I'm having problems installing new themes on vista.
I download .msstyle (or w/e) files off of Deviantart etc. and when I go to get them out of C:/Windows/Resources, they're not there (they're not on the pop up menu when selecting a style, but they're still in the actual folder). I can get the aero file and all the others that came with vista in the resource folder, but not any 3rd party ones i've downloaded.
I've heard about patching files such as themeui.dll and uxtheme.dll (I think...) but i'm not too sure what will actually work.
Any help?
I don't see why this should be that hard to do.

http://www.ghacks.net/2008/01/21/uxthemedl...s-xp-and-vista/I used a uxtheme patch on my xp and it worked. Search around for other sources if you want, its all out there you just gotta look.

That's basically all there is to it. Windows only recognises "signed" themes, unless you patch uxtheme.dll.

The link for the patched uxtheme is down, and on another site the download link was down too (go figure.)
Thanks for the help though.

Search around for another source then, its out there. You might even find a link to one in a theme on dA

Well, I got the replacement dlls, but Replacer is being a bitch, so once I find a better file replacer, it'll be most likely fixed.
