I was wondering whether you think it would be feasible for jagex to release Runescape into the Asian market?
I know it would be a mammoth of a task translating everything, but if they could become popular in Asia they have the potential to maybe even double their profits.
What do you guys think?
Would Asian players like Runescape?
Is it do-able?
the only free Asian games i know of are the horrible grinding ones like Silkroad etc...

I see no Zerg Rush in RS.
Get the Zerg, get the Koreans, get the money.

You are talking about thousand of languages to be translated. I think that would be too much work for Jagex. I don't think a free translator found on the internet would help make translating faster for Jagex either. I mean, I bet Asian people (in Asia) probably do play anyways.

Best money maker would be Korean or Chinese. I don't really see Runescape as making it though, as a lot of the Asian MMO playing is strictly for gold farming (which runescape has eliminated at high costs).

I honestly see Korean/Japanese as good languages for an Asian market.
Rs in Thai would be epic, but I don't see it yielding a good market for rs.

I guess they do play so I doubt there's a specific need to "expand" into the market. Translation would be a pain the in the backside, esp considering how many languages there are.

It would be kind hard. Just China itself has dozens of dialects and it's not easy to chose one type of chinese to translate.
Also, except for japan, asian countries are under developed, most population has limited access to internet.

I've always wanted to learn me some Manderin.
But this won't happen. European languages or GTFO.

Well, there are a lot of Asians already playing.
They're called Goldfarmers.
Oops, generalization? Naw. Goldfarmers. The lot of them.
