Mmmmkay. I want to use this image as an avvy on another site. Trouble is, the magic wand tool doesn't work so well, and block-erasing manually ain't working.
Can somebody please remove the white background (and make it transparent) from this image while keeping the borders of the thing in good quality?
Your help is appreciated.

dude, this is one of the easiest render's I have ever seen. Do it yourself, and train on rendering because believe me you'll need it in the future if you plan on GFXing.
I just did it in under 1 minute. Not gonna post it, just try it yourself: Magic wand on about 30 tolerance set on contiguous did it almost instantly for me. oh and anti-aliasing on.

LOL, Fisher is offended by the fact you asked

Use the magic wand, it works

I tried. When you put it on any background other than white the sides are all choppy. I know that its an easy render, I can see that instantly XD. However, I couldn't get the choppyness crap out, and I suck at fiddling with tolerance and stuff. Whats contiguous anyway?

Magic wand on 30 tolerance with Anti-aliasing and contiguous ticked provides the still-choppy THIS:
Black background so you see what it does on other backgrounds. Transparent means it will have a background one way or the other when used as an avvy.

you find tolerance on the top left corner below the layers menu. And if its choppy defringe it bt 1 pixel or 2

You mean select > Modify > Expand then delete? The result is OK on a black forum background, but on a white forum or white skin, you get what I just set as my avvy.
If I create a stroke, 1px is too thin and 2px is too thick.
Why are simle things so complicated :S

Layers>scroll all the way down to "Matting">Defringe (1Pix)

Doesn't seem to help much, but thanks for that sonic. What does it technomologicalllllly actually do?
Current avvy is the really thick bordered one.

use it even if you got a bit of white going on... you could use a selective background eraser if you really don't like it, but most outlined renders will stay that way.

Stay that way? With these ugly white pixels:

WHAAT?
It works ok on a dark background (which is fine with the skin I'm using, and is the most common used, on that forum.) However, it isn't so wonderful on a light coloured forum. Look to the left of this post. The border is too thick.

defringe cuts off the ammount you enter from the sides of your render, so those pixels are about 1 or 2 pixels in wide, set defringe to 1 or 2 and it'll cut them off.

Ok, because it didn't do much.

...or you could make a black layer under the render and use the eraser at 1px to maually get rid of the white.

Tried that with the block eraser zoomed in highest. Didnt' work well because A)It just doesnt work well and B)I suck at identifying exactly which pixels are needed and which aren't.
