I remember the first SOTW music theme a while back, then SOTM Bands and Musicians. It always comes down to this theme

And for what it's worth, it brought great results.
gonna post my entry soon

update:

from scratch.

I think someone knew about the theme before it was announced. Some DQin should ensue.

Barak artpiece is confused.
Barak artpiece hurts itself in its confusion.
I take it you can do a piece pertaining to a musical instrument that doesn't actually exist? (Or if it did, would make no real musical sound).
Spire
Jul 29 2009, 04:31 AM
...let's stick to actual musical instruments
Saebjorn
Jul 29 2009, 05:43 AM
But its really cewl. And its
extremely similar to an already-existing instrument. It was invented for kicks. I don't want to show it to you now to ruin it, but PLEEEASE?

Surely the whole point of AOTM competitions is to let your imagination run riot with the theme as a starting point? Do what you want as long as it relates to music imo.

Alright, I was just worried it was going to be something like the magical apple that sounds like a harp.

Is writing considered art in these competitions?
Barak
Jul 30 2009, 07:33 AM
No, this is a Graphic Art competition.

Well i'd say yes Row, and i would also include music and other forms of art, but I don't think the idea would be particularly popular...so maybe have the poem (or whatever it's going to be), on a suitable photo?

Good idea sah.

I'd have to disagree on this one with Henry... It is acceptable if you apply it on an image, but the image shouldn't be judged by the poem. You're free to open a lyrical art competition - but not in the Graphic Art section, if you ask me.

You should have made the photo smaller before editing it, the people, stage (and the performer you can still see) are too blurry.
kreotis

They are supposed to be blurred.

I can post naked pictures of people and claim it as "art". I dont see anything wrong with using language instead. Unless of course, you want naked pictures of me. That can be arranged, just pm me.

There is a reason why it was deleted. That was possibly the stupidest thing ever.
Saebjorn

And because it deterred too far from the storyline for the amount of time the scene takes up.
Entry closes tomorrow.
