Not all Americans do that... my favorite cheap beer is Budweiser. The price may vary on part of the country.
Most major events in Denver sell the piss water they call Coors here since they brew it in Colorado.
That's still a waste of beer to shotgun it... it does a whole lot better for me to be in my belly.
I've shot guns though but at real targets. Shutgun a beer can is a redneck thing to do imo.

Wait. I thought it was like, you open the can, poke a hole in the bottom, and quickly put the can up to your mouth so the drink slides down your throat without any bubbles and whatnots.

Nope. You put the hole in first, cover it. Then open the can. Then you raise the can to your orifice. Place the hole you made over the orifice. Uncover the hole. Then air rushes into the can to fill the space and thus pushes the liquid out into your hole. Fast. Hard. Throbbing.

Shiiiit boy. Shotgunning a 330ml can? Why bother? I can almost down a can that size standardly by the time they've even gotten the key out.

And there's a much manlier, more hilarious version of shotgunning. You sit around with one can at a time, hold the can at top and bottom and smash it into your forehead, then pass it on. As soon as it bursts, pop the top and chug-a-lug. Although it only works with proper 500-568ml cans. Which also usually have a proper alcohol content.

And Jammi - ohgod. I remember those days. Although I've gone back to dirt cheap cider these days. Mmmm.
