RuneScape Username: Cyborg770
Combat Level: 76

I decided to make a G&A thread because I've been thinking about skilling recently. Most of the time I've spent on RuneScape that wasn't 'hard'core training or quests was wondering around aimlessly. I only ever progressed if I set my mind to 'drilling' levels - and the outcome of higher levels is quite pleasing. I'm f2p, always have been, and at this stage don't intend to become a member for a long time. I'm almost always on World 108. My stats are fairly average for a level 30-50 f2p. However, I'm level 76. Since then I have got firemaking and woodcutting to 50, as well as fishing/cooking during lesser demon and cockroach training and a small bit of mining.

With my non-combat stats now sadly low for someone of my combat level, I decided to try and get most stats to 60 and my combat level to 80 for two reasons. One, because...well...everybody likes higher levels. And secondly, in 'honour' of the new f2p skill coming out sometime.

Levels dictated as 1 are just not listed on the highscores.

Mining got so boring that I wasn't playing, so I switched goals.

Do I really need to bother watermarking the screenshots? dry.gif
Row
Don't bother with the water marking.

Enjoy your skilling.

Nice going, your stats aren't that bad for your level smile.gif 60+ Will be very nice I'm sure!

I do wonder what this new skill is going to be... Hmmmm...
Row
It's sailing.
Saebjorn
Sailing seems likely, although at this stage the idea doesn't appeal to me very much.

What I am more worried about is that soon I'll be finished the finished the magic goal and I want to do mining/smithing next, however one of the Jagex guys in a Q&A thing said he thinks Mining is the skill with the highest current need for attention, so it's likely to be getting an update sometime soon. I'm just wondering if I'll get pissed that the update will make it easier to skill those levels, or just make it worse. To mine next or not to mine next? That is the question. unsure.gif

EDIT: My skilling calculator just asked for a number to smith (I assume bars) saying steel is 30 each. Does that mean that smithing xp is gained per bar? So if a dagger is 1 bar and a platebody is 3, then daggers give you 30xp and platebodies give you 90xp? (Doh, elementary maths...) I'm just wondering because then it doesn't matter if I just smith platebodies, create full sets, or just smith 1364 daggers.

EDIT2: 59 Magic. One to go biggrin.gif

EDIT3: 60 Magic. Moved on to mining. 49 Mining smile.gif
And Row, the Content Team Q&A session dictated that the new skill being Sailing is a false rumour, the new skill definitely is not sailing and is expected to be released some time in 2010.

EDIT4: 50 Mining. Ten to go! smile.gif

EDIT5: 52 Mining. Eight to go! smile.gif

EDIT6: 53 Mining. I also finished the 1364 iron - on to 2728 coal. I will probably smith them into steel sets (seeing as xp is per bar, not items) and sell them on the GE. I just looked it up, and its cheaper to buy a set of steel than to buy its needed amount to smith in bars, and even more cheaper than buying the needed amount of ores. :S Shouldn't it be the opposite? Seeing as you are putting your effort into the process? So you buy ores, smelt, smith and they drop in value?

EDIT7: 55 mining. I can mine mith even though I'm not going to. :]
