you realise half this shit isn't supposed to be worn anywhere other than a catwalk...these shoes are just random showings of a designers creativity, theyre not meant to be practical, have you ever seen the sort of weird things that are displayed on a catwalk? You wouldn't wear half of it anywhere else.
stop being so naïve and thinking in such a linear fashion.
Which is exactly why the topic title asks the question 'If you can't wear it, is it still fashion?'
The entire point of this is to ask if the random junk, sorry, 'showings of designers creativity' should be considered fashion if it's totally impractical and downright weird.
The answer is clear and has already been mentioned in Henry's post. You fail to see it Benjy because you don't want to accept it as the answer. I'll justify that claim by the way you talk about the items shown on the runways and what not. You call them 'random junk' which is obviously uncovering a predisposition of yours that you don't acknowledge the time and effort put into designing and making fashion items.
It's fine for you to hold that opinion (if you want to look like an ignorant tool). I suggest doing some research and actually understanding the subject before making claims about it.
'Totally impractical and weird'
Firstly, the shoes aren't totally impractical - they have a use in the fashion world. Secondly, 'weird' is only your opinion (and such an opinion holds no sway in the fashion world). Furthermore, it would be a boring world if we all had to subscribe to what you thought was right, wrong, weird and cool, etc.
Thirdly, you're judging fashion items by their use! Are you kidding? Do you even understand fashion? I think not. Which leads me back to my aforementioned point - do some research before making silly claims or enjoy looking like an ass.
Lastly, the topic question has never been valid from the start. The examples used have all been fashion items that were being worn. How could that major factor be overlooked? Oh right. It's because you just wanted to disguise a rant on fashion within a 'debate' about fashion items. Ok, I see now, carry on gents.
Jolly good game of forums I say.
The shoes are totally impractical. Creating a shoe for a runway clearly makes it impractical
in the real world. The fact that it has 'use' in the runway-world does not in any way define it as practical.
Yes, I do understand fashion, it's the concept that counts, that is why I posted my opinion on it. You can't blatantly make a statement that 'the world would be a boring place...' because I'm sure if the world was defined by you, it would be a stoned, drunken, deranged and rather trolly place.
Never do I judge fashion items by their use. Get it right. Do some research (or you could just read the post) before making silly claims or looking like an ass.
And yes, lastly, I know this thread has a huge bias and slight hypocrisy, which is why I didn't post into it until now. I didn't make the topic, go rant on to somebody who cares.
