Rio De Janeiro, Brazil was chosen to host the 2016 Summer Games (the other candidates were Osaka, Japan and Chicago, USA), yet recently
another wave of violence spread around the city.

Clearly some places simply don't deserve to host the Olympics. Mostly places ran by communists and places with constant outbreaks of violence and/or disease.
Summary: It won't work.

And you're less likely to get stabbed than in Glasgow.
Well, we can live in the potentially naive hope that earning the Olympic games will act as a catalyst for vast social change and the betterment of Rio. That or just accept that all the dealers will have been shot by 2016.
But in all seriousness, everyone I know who's been to Rio has absolutely loved it and has wanted to go back.

I don't think violence will be a problem. All eyes are on Rio and Brazil and they will crackdown on the violence and drugs and whatever to set a shining example of what the Olympics should be in 2016.

There's a place in Brazil or something that sells cocaine. And it's like, a cocaine bar, police bribed and whatnot. So you can just go there and buy some. Which is an interesting idea.

Apparently the amount of money China spent on the Beijing Olympics was roughly the same amount they needed to recover from the Sinchuan earthquakes. (Probably spelt that wrong). I see a repetition here.

Also true

However I don't think that hosting the Olympic games will be a catalyst for anything except national debt. I think we might see some sort of military intervention, similar to China. South Americans are pro in military intervention

When I was in the Chicago O'Hare airport a couple months back they had countless monitors and the PA system hooked up to saying 'Welcome to Chicago, the proud candidate for the 2016 Olympic Games' announced by some gold medalist female swimmer... I bet they took those down pretty fast.
