High Alching is a great way to make money in Runescape.
Not only can you cut the costs of expensive skills to level like Smithing and Fletching but you can also train your Magic really quickly and easily!
You get 65 Magic Experience for each high alchemy spell you use. If you’re going to do some serious High Alching make sure you’re equipped properly.
Items/Skills Needed:
Level 55Magic
A Fire Staff - For each High Alch you need 5 Fire Runes and if your doing large
quantities this can be a large and unnecessary cost. A fire staff gives you unlimited fire runes when equipped. They can be bought from Zaff’s Staff Shop in Varrock Square for roughly 1500 coins.
Nature Runes – Each High Alch also requires 1 Nature Rune. Nature Runes are dropped by various monsters in Runescape or alternatively can be bought from players or even runecrafted if you are a member with 44 Runecrafting or higher. See the Runecrypt Runecrafting Guide.
*Nature prices vary from 200 – 400, depending on the amount.
Note! – Never High Alch with expensive items or items you don’t wish to High Alch in your inventory. A slip of the wrist could cost you a few mil.
Now you have your tools, you need to get the item(s) you intend to High Alch. If you are only doing 1 or 2 items you can withdraw them as items and just cast High Alch on them directly. If you have hundreds or thousands of a particular item to High Alch then withdraw them all in note form.
Place the noted items in your inventory in the 4th Row Down & the 2nd Column In. This way the items are right under your mouse after you’ve clicked the High Alch Spell allowing you to just click away!Like This:
*Position of the Nature runes is irrelevant but make sure they aren’t somewhere you will accidentally click.
Easier Alching:
Using a little tool supplied with Windows, you can make your alching much easier than clicking with a mouse. First of all, go into your Control Panel and click on Accessibility. That should open up a window that looks a little like this:
Click on the Mouse tab (as shown in the circle), and then place a tick in the box that says
Use MouseKeys:
Once you've done that, click on OK, and make sure your Number Lock (on your keyboard) is On. You'll find that pressing the 5 key (on the numberpad only) will do the same as you clicking the mouse. You can now position your mouse above the High Alchemy spell, and use 5 to click away while leaving you free to watch TV!
When you’re ready you and your inventory should look something like this:
It also helps to have a friend around if you’re doing a lot of Alching so as to avoid going insane!
What to Do While Alching?
Alching can take a long time. While you're doing it you can merchant, talk to people, or talk to your friends. But a good thing to do is work on your farming. The main point is that to consume time while alching, just farm by growing Herbs, Allotment Plants or Flowers.
Basically if you didn't understand that, here's an example of what I mean:
When alching, just sitting there and clicking over and over again isn't exactly everybody's idea of fun. So, to hurry it up, just head to your nearest Allotment patch and grow some Herbs/Plants/Flowers. After you have planted them, just stay in the general area where you planted them, so that if they get diseased then you can cure them. When they are ready, harvest them for some nice XP. Two skills for the price of one (what a bargain!)!
