Construction isn't only about building things and getting experience. Well, maybe it is... but there are many other things that can be said about Construction as a skill! This page is dedicated to giving information not specifically mentioned in the other pages as well as touch up on a few subjects (oh man, it's starting to sound like a textbook!). Follow the "links" below to find out about different topics.
To get this saw, you need to first complete the quest The Eyes of Glouphrie. The crystal saw is pretty similar to using a Dwarven Stout to temporarily raise your Mining level.
While "raising your level" (it won't show that your level is 3 higher), it lets you make objects related to Construction that are three levels higher than your level. For example, if you're level 42 and you want to make a Large Teak Bed (45 construction required), you can with the Crystal Saw (with the materials needed for the object). But, like most good things, there's a slight downside. As you make furnishings, the power of the Saw decreases. After 28 items are constructed, the Crystal Saw will change back to a uncharged crystal seed and it'll need to be recharged. The bonuses from this can be "stacked" with the Evil Stew of DOOM! (explained below under Other Bonuses). Note:
You can recharge it by bringing it to Brimstail's Cave in the Tree Gnome Stronghold.
Workshop Extra Features For the complete main article, visit Construction - Workshop. Flatpacks Flatpacks are "flat" versions of items throughout your house. With a flatpack, you can trade with another player who might not be able to make it himself or herself. That way, with a flatpack, you can use it with a hotspot to make it. Depending on the level of your workbench, you can make these flat-packed items. All you need are the same materials as if you were making the real thing. You even get the same experience! Although it's not necessary, you can make it for yourself too. Here's an example of what it looks like (right image is enlarged):
Repair Bench
Using the repair bench, you can repair Barrows Armour here too. You can also repair a variety of other broken items from around RuneScape such as broken arrows and staffs. If you upgrade to a whetstone, you can sharpen old rusty swords. For the main article, visit Heraldry under Construction - Workshop.
Heraldy and Family Crests
With the workshop you can paint your family crest on steel or rune full helms. Once done, you can even wield it to show off around RuneScape. As you upgrade you can also paint your shield as well as make a banner. For the main article, visit Repair Bench under Construction - Workshop.
Construction Bonuses/Level Boosting Evil Stew of DOOM!
Evil Dave's Evil Stew of DOOM! can be obtained after completing this portion of the Recipe for Disaster Quest. After completing the quest, you can get the stew from Evil Dave (the house west of the Edgeville bank, go through the trapdoor). Just like a kebab, the stew can raise (or even lower) your construction level in the range of +6 to -6. If you decide to use it while wielding the Crystal Saw, add 3 to whatever level the stew changes. To make the stew for Construction (other spices change other skills), use an orange spice. Spices can be obtained through your cat to chase down hellrats, which will drop the spice. You can use up to 3 doses. Note: Be sure to make several because these are unpredictable!
Tea Level Boosting Tea can also be used to boost your level temporarily one to three levels. To make tea, you will need: a larder (used to store food), shelves, a sink (any level), and a stove (Firepit with Hook and up).
1. Fill a kettle with water and boil it using the stove. 2. Put leaves in the teapot; soon you'll see a message that the kettle has finished boiling.
3. Take it off the stove and pour it into a teapot.
- With this you can make up to four cups. Depending on what type of shelves you have, you can raise more levels with different tea sets.
-
Check here for types of shelves. With a Butler (40+ Construction), you can raise up to three levels with teak shelves 1.
What I do to train my construction, is have law runes, earth runes, hammer, and saw in my inventory. I use an air staff and whatever else you want for equipment. Get your planks out, tele to your house and change house options building mode to ON. Then, build all your desired stuff using 24 planks, and teleport to Camelot. Rinse and repeat.
